It will rough up your voice something fierce and right quick. When someone figures out a way around this, I would like to know. There is a reason why Chris Cornell, Phil Anselmo et al sound like they do now. I suppose one could ask Jaz Coleman, but he's probably off trying to save the environment or composing an orchestral piece when he's not being awesome fronting Killing Joke.

I have decided I will be inclined to like Every Time I Die, because I think it's funny they're famous and their rehearsals seem so aimless and undisciplined. Also, a couple of them are friends with the engineer we work with at GCR, and the few times I've run into them they are unfailingly polite. Also, the guy with the Bad Cats probably likes gear, and we/I like gear as well.

Unfortunately it also fun as all balls, mang.
I've been playing Drain You and Where Boys Fear To Tread over and over again whilst singing.
I chose these two songs cause they work perfect with my range both have Big, Fun Riffs!
:D

Oh, and with the ETID guitarists it's ALL gear whoredom.
Jeff has used a vintage 800 his whole career with ETID and Andy has used Oranges, Bad Cats, vintage Marshalls, etc.

No, it's not. My roommate is fantabulous though and I did appreciate the text from Doktor Sardocasm. (I even heard from Vol the other day! Mind equals blown.) The Neu Snaxohaus seems to be working out well, and we have plenty of these: :dukes: . Drunken octopus wants to kick yer ass.

That is the problem, really. It kicks multiple different asses, but you pay for those asses being kicked, and forget they're being paid for in Pounds when you see the bill and assume it's Dollars. That being said, I don't gig enough for that bill to add up, so I generally sound pretty tough live, even unintentionally. We all do this, I think. One must rock to rock.

'S not so bad. If only I had time to unpack. I moved on Monday and have followed it up with five straight nights of rehearsal as I'm in three different bands. :wall:

My ability to acquire delicious foodstuffs and beverages at random hours has increased exponentially, though. Some proper quality is right there. And I don't have to walk into the barrio to do it. :D So the next time I decide at one in the morning I want to consume a jar of organic sun-dried tomatoes and wash 'em down with a sixer of Edmund Fitzgerald, I can do this with ease and quickness. Because that's a very smart and healthy idea.

I was baffled by the sheer :snax: selection after stumbling down there around the aforementioned hour. I settled on the organic kettle-cooked chipotle barbecue chips.

Easy access to deliciousness is always important.

So what's the new place like, anyhow?

It's incredibly impotent, yes. :red:

It's the three-bedroom top floor of an old Victorian with nary a carpet in sight, quirky asymmetrical rooms. good acoustics, a long, open living room... The sort of place I am inclined to house.

I am currently singing to myself for no good reason. Specifically, So What (Anti-Nowhere League, famously covered by Metallica) in the style of Johnny Cash.

I did get laid yesterday... and today I got rather drunk... i need to undrunkify myself as I have a calculus test tomorrow @ 8am

Edit: I was also reminded why I listen to music as low as my surroundings allow... I was on the bus with teh gf and we were sharing ear buds but the music was too loud. HUGE loss in definition and clarity with the volume that loud

Between Fletcher-Munson and the response of the earbuds themselves, the actual post-D-to-A analog amplification on yer mp3 player, and probably overdriving something in the chain- likely the earbuds themselves unless you payed up the ass for Etymotic or Shure or the like- yeah, it'll do that. Which is especially not cool when you're in a public place where you want to block out the sound around you. The easiest way around it unfortunately is to throw money at the problem and buy expensive headphones. Etymotic er6 or er6is are under $100- probably more like $80 new- and sound amazing, are really friggin' loud and have a ton of isolation. My band uses them for in-ear monitor systems. I like them with the iPod.

Earbuds are an odd thing, but $100 give or take is orders of magnitude better. If pressed I could mix on er6s. It's not even what us musiciantypes would call orders of magnitude where it's really, observably, not that much. It is really, observably, that much. I'm not sure there is an in-between. It's the "meh, what I'm used to" and then "wow, these are actually really good!". Like, they are good headphones, never mind they fit in your ears. If anyone knows where the in-between is, they should let others know 'cause we can't always swing the bucks for the nice stuff.

Re: boozeahol, I got some Three Philosophers tonight. It is very tasty. Whilst it was consumed my housematelady and I discussed Michel Foucault, which is ironic on a couple levels.
