 Re: The Chris Thread
My very sleepy mind read that as Beard Tapir.
Tapirs should really consider a beard.

If/when I a become a teacher, I am going to give a lesson about Venn diagrams and how they are supposed to be used.
That will be my example.

The Mortal Kombat tournaments take place at the foot of that river.

When you are given only one note, you must make it count.

 Re: The Chris Thread
And yes, the picture is real. It's the last movement of Mahler 6, where there's a percussion part in the score marked simply "HAMMER". It's played all of two or three times, depending on which version of the piece you go by. The traditional way to do it is to have a bigass wooden box with resonant ports (these days perhaps miced up) and have a percussionist clobber the thing with a bigass wooden mallet. I've seen it live, and they had the Mahler Box upfront rather than buried in the percussion section in the back. It was pretty epic. (As well it should be; said last movement alone clocks in at half an hour.) Mahler's Hammer Of Fate is the original subdrop.
