Vesication. The band has done buttfuck all, not even playing gigs. We had an EP recorded since the end of 2010 and still haven't released it. Basically because the vocalist was in charge of all that stuff. Everyone was losing interest and we all agreed that things are moving slowly and getting depressing because we let the vocalist be the boss... It's his way or the highway, otherwise you can expect to be called names or get in a fight or have shit said about you behind your back. So we eventually decided we want to do it without him. We finally talk about it online (because we really don't want to deal with his angry ass on the phone) with him and he's out of the band, but first he makes a bunch of low blows at us and all... bass player has gone silent... this is lameness.

It makes perfect sense that there could be drama in a band, regardless of whether or not they are successful. People put time and effort into it, they have certain expectations, tensions can be created, be they said or unsaid...

For the first time in my life, the only band drama is scheduling conflicts with people's jobs and with the other bands we play with. Admittedly, stuff comes up re: Garda, but everyone knows That's My Band vs. I'm In Your Band. Jen and I were talking last night and she was... only slightly surprised that I really am that busy and am never home. We're as likely to run into each other on the street in downtown Buffalo as being home and awake at the same time. I was asked when I'd have a break and I'm all "what is break?" Yeah, I don't have any Garda gigs coming up after this weekend, but I have the Garda record, the Forgotten Ones record, the Entrapped In Silence record, gigs with my friend Holly, etc... What is break?

Reading about band drama makes me glad I'm not in a band. To be honest I'm not passionate about music enough at the minute to bother with it

GnR audition went very well, we'll see if I get the gig or not. I brought my 6100LM it was just fucking perfect. The studio had a Mesa 4x12 that sounded great. I have no idea what was in them, it looked over sized and sounded nice and tight.

Garda is opening for Sister Sin tonight. Seeing as we're the opener with name recognition, that means we load in an hour (Actually, we were supposed to be there at 5:30. I'm the only one even at The 'Drome yet. ) from now and sit on our asses until 10 or 11. But fuckit, I got seven hours of sleep this week, I should be good.

Ah yes, Sister Sin is gonna be here on Saturday. In fact some ex bandmates have a hair metal band that will be opening for them...

no tophat for me, I would be Izzy, hard for me to tone it down, as I am stage ham..... BUt will be doing the beret, vest, etc....

New guitar day (sort of). I did buy it in 1996 but whatever...

They were decent peeps. It was an odd show. The opening band was doom-death slowmetal, there was a band that sounds an awful lot like A Perfect Circle (we've played with those guys + lady a bunch lately, they're pretty good), us and Sister Sin. It was all big tough sounding rawkings, to be sure, but within that category the bands were pretty dissimilar. The guitarist from my metal band mixed us, and he really liked the Presonus Studiolive board they have there. It seems pretty damn nice to me.

Actual conversation from last night with a friend of mine:

"They were okay, but I really only liked their first album. I think they kinda jumped the shark."

There's about a dozen people here today. My whole department- all three of us- is on the intarwebs wondering "why the hell are we here?" No one is entirely certain why they're here. There's a reasonable chance I will take off early.

Tomorrow is the last Garda show for a bit. We go to the studio proper to cut drums (And live basics for something that always rules live to the point we end our set with it that we never even demoed...) in three weeks or so.
