I take it black bikers have fairly different taste in bikes than white bikers?

Harley weekend was last week. That one is mostly white doctors and lawyers.

This one is called Memorial Day Weekend bike rally, but is most commonly known as Black Bike Weekend. They drive street bikes for the most part, but some do rock Harleys/choppahs.

I think it's kinda funny that most of the bikers I'm acquainted with are upscale professional types who are too busy dealing in real estate or professing history or building computer networks or whatnot to be running crystal meth for the Hell's Angels.

Style points to a friend of mine for rocking an Indian versus a Harley. He has to go with the outsider thing, doesn't he, even there? (Dude has a badass fukken' Rickenbacker all done up in Gibson Gothic matte black with a custom pickguard and a Fender Prophecy II, which is sweet as fuck- Fender did an active bass and did it well, albeit briefly. Now that I mention it, even his basses roll that way.)

We have something sort of like that here called Caribana. No choppers, but lots of pimped out rides. I once had a death metal gig downtown that day. It was really awkward, leaving the venue. And once we started walking underground to get to the subway, all the nagglers started spitting on us. Nothing wrong with black people, but fuck niggers so hard.

I wish I remembered the exact wording of my tranny friend's rant on the subject of people's behavior and negative terms for various sociocultural groups. This coming from a middle-eastern transgendered woman is pretty hilarious with the proper delivery. The basic gist of it is "There's people, and then there's assholes. There's white people, and there's white trash. There's black people, and then there's niggers. And so on. Every group has their assholes. Look at me- I'm in no position to hate anyone for what they are or where they're from or whatever, but I do hate a lot of people for how they act and how they treat others. That's what those words mean and that's who they apply to, as un-PC as they are to say. Classless trashy assholes are gonna be that regardless of what they are or where they're from; it just differentiates 'em a little more. If I disrespect you, it's because you act like a douchebag."

She's basically spot on with that.

It gets into some interesting elements of language, and meaning as derived from context. Say, an expression of social solidarity from the white rural or black urban underclass to one another means something totally different spoken in anger with a broad prejudice and a different thing when actually used in reference to negative behavior patterns or attitudes stereotypical to said group, as obvious examples. Meaning = context, straight up. It's not just what's said but by whom and when. Ultimately, I don't think anything's more beyond the pale than any other nasty word- I mean, does anyone mean motherfucker literally? It's shorthand for "that [insert X here] scumbag".

It's a heavy area to get into linguistically, and kind of a third rail- no one wants to touch it. But I've observed the attitude expressed throughout what I'd call Geek Culture, which is both very integrated and accepting, and has a certain sort of pragmatism re: politics (and its attendant economic issues) which, while it can veer oftentimes hard left or right is at least the more thoughtful- usually- approach to said versus, say, prior generations of sociocultural conservatives or Marxist-Leninist dogmatists or similarly yicky things. But this is my 4 AM rambling which I suppose I'm in no state to really finish up right now.

And it is all amplified by society's recent and hopefully short-lived shift towards the glorification of stupidity. Every culture has it's douchebag idiot cousin sub-culture, but more and more commonly these sub-cultures are being raised up as "every man" and can even be raised to celebrity status because they constantly strive to be unintellectual. Like fucking Larry the Cable Guy, which in himself is sort of a great joke, being that he is a character acted by a rather smart guy. But, the very people he targets for satire have hoisted his flag as a leader of the white-trash sub-culture, and he is going along with it.

Actually I am just starting to sound like a significantly less funny David Cross on the matter, so I should just let him explain it:
