now the unpacking begins.



















I am planning on doing some clips with my Lil' Night Train on Monday after class. It will be the first clips I have done at above-speaking-volumes, and I am excited. Normally, I have to set the gain so high on the Saffire pres that I just get all sorts of noise and the speaker just seems to crave the extra push. So, this will probably be some of my better sounding clips (in theory) ....

The unpacking should be easy tho, right? And get going with those clips and enjoy the loud jamming.

For as broke as I am, I actually have a lot of shit to unpack. And, between classes and work, I really don't have any time for it. I might pull an all nighter tonight and knock out a lot of it. At least I put my bed together.

UNpacking always feels weird to me. You spend so much time and effort putting the shit INTO boxes. I always find that taking everything back out and putting it away in its new home goes bizarrely quickly.

It also makes all of the fiddly bits of packing the niceables seem wayyy paranoia-driven. Like "FUCK, who felt it necessary to tape a tube of bubble wrap to and around EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE SIXTEEN PINT GLASSES?"

This is move #4 in 4 years, so I am getting to become somewhat of a pro. All of my stuff was labeled, packaged and easy/safe to transport. My roomy just threw stuff in trash bags, or just straight in his car. You can ~3 sq. feet of his bedroom floor last time I checked.

I am probably about 50% done unpacking, but I have been putting off sorting my clothing, which I find to be the most tedious and least rewarding (as I pull them out and wear them anyway, and am a lazy fuck); however, I do love looking at a freshly organized room.

Also, my new bedroom has an entire wall of shelves, and makes my (rather meager, especially given my profession) book collection look minuscule. I must start buying more books.

Oh man, it is best not to have too many books. Particularly in this modern technological era.

The last move i did was my sister from one part pf Queens to another. The new apartment is on the fifth floor. No elevator. She and her husband have been working in bookstores for the last ten years plus.

Literally, it was 50% books(and this AFTER they got rid of more than half of their books leading up to the move), 40% booze/glassables for booze, and like everything else rounding out the last 10%.

Books are awesome, as long as you never need to take them anywhere en mass. Same as vinyl.

Plus, whose work is worth more to read than my own?

Seriously. All you need is a rhyming dictionary, Atlas Shrugged, Mein Kampf, and one of those super jumbo "Find The Word" jobbers that moms give their kids for long ass vacation car rides. All right dead center on a (otherwise empty) big-ass book sheff.

A good percentage of my work moving into this house was carrying books and vinyl. Both are retardedly heavy, and I had a shitload of both. Damn my nerdiness to hell.
