 Live Mics
so what was our consensus for good live mics?
I know the Beta58 is Snaxie's fav, and the typical 58 is good, what else is a good for the money live vocal mic?

 Re: Live Mics
I like Snaxie's old OM2 I snagged. IIRC, he said it can handle loud volumes and such for stage use, but he prefers the sound of the Beta58. I'm sure he can come 'laborate on that shit tho' yo.

 Re: Live Mics
yes, that does sound familiar. They are not a bad price either. I know we've discussed this before, but could not find the thread. Maybe because I didn't look too hard.

 Re: Live Mics
The only good vocal mic is when you wire a bass amp backwards so that it becomes a mic.

 Re: Live Mics
I have sung into a Sennheiser e602. It sounded, not surprisingly, like ballsack. Re: the Beta 58- neither it nor the OM2 sound anything like a regular 58/57. The OM2 especially. I have no issue with the Aw, Dicks-es sonically; I think they're quite nice mics and recommend them. Re: the Betas that Garda has standardized on- it's more the pickup pattern of the OM2 is like a dolphin's butt: watertight. Not so bad when you're rolling handheld. They reject feedback like a motherfucker. I have held them up to a Peavey PA column that was, like, 2x15 2x10 3x tweeter and they didn't feed back. But you have to be right up on the things, and having both about, we chose the Beta 58s. The top end on the Audixes is great; very crisp and clear. The Betas seem a bit more mid-forward to my ears, but not as honky (cracka!) as your standard-issue 58, at least in that they don't make me sound like I'm singing into a tin can, because my voice is from Midrange Hell. They sound vaguely condenser-ish in their response. We bring our Betas to all our shows. If we have a fourth vocal mic, it's a regular 58. There is a noticeable difference in output and tone. Incidentally, I like the Beta 58 on guitar cab as well, usually in combination with a flat-ish condenser on the same speaker. The OM2 wound up there a bunch as well, usually with a 57 for the mids.

 Re: Live Mics
well I found my other 57 so I have bof of dem and then had some Amazon credit and saw the Blue Encore 100 was only 79.00 shipped so I paid about $10 for one, the shootouts look decent and I want to try one out. I will up and get a beta later this summer. Can never have enough mics...

 Re: Live Mics
I wanted the 100i to for cab micing.
But I thin a 57 will cover me just fine for recording.
