I need a good distortion vst too. Are there any decent ones that won't cost me?

GClip is alright. Doesn't really add any character worth mentioning though.

Drums, also wanting add crackle to aggressive vocals...

I will check out that limiter. :thu:

Also do you recall way back on maps dot com a thread where we posted all these vsts for severely fucking things like vocals? I need to make some really alien voices...

Post Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
my typing is noticeably faster already. I dont even push the keys all the way down anymore because i can feel them actuate at the halfway point (plus they click :D)

yeah, im in love with this keyboard. Love it so much. The only downside i've noticed is that since the keyboard reacts much faster, that i am now able to type faster, but not all of my fingers are able to keep up with eachother so sometimes i switch the letters in words around because some fingers dont lift up fast enough. Its a wierd sensation being able to break yoru previous typing speed. I figure in a week that i will get used to it. :D:D:D so happy. pig in poop happy.

I think that thread was on Tone Settings then. IIRC, started by Voltaire? If so, should still be there...

EDIT: hmm. you are right i think, that WAS at mapsdotcom.

That saturated limiter looks real fun! I'd like to try it on the session I'm currently doing. On the snare.

Might not work out so hot though since the snare is also a major source of cymbal. Chalk it up to weak technique. It's the 'disappearing snare blast'.

I hate car hunting. I also hate guitar selling.

(The two are unrelated, don't worry. I want to unload my Ibanez and Schecter so I can get another Gary Kramer. The Schecter I may be selling to an ex-girlfriend.)

Gig tonight, 3 gigs tomorrow, 3 bands.... Tomorrow's gigs are 1-5, 6-9, and 10-2. 50 minute ride between them.... I can leave the 6-9 around 8:00 I think, should be an interesting day

Those are awesome. I've used Buffer Override on a couple Garda tracks and that industrial remix I did for Geoff last summer. :D

luckily one gig is acoustic so no jumping on the bar etc... the other two on the other hand are... full of debauchery

also, should we make a subforum in recording for these VST's we come across?

Double Debauchery! :D You'll be playing the second gig already hung over from the first. What maps 'n' fiddles are you bringing?

Re: plugins, I can just create a sticky thread in recording to post links for Cool Free Stuff (or the legit pages [which usually at least have demo downloads] for stuff you're supposed to pay the man for.)

In fact, I may do just that.

Well acoustic, I will bring, well acoustic and acoustic map. The toher two, I am actually bringing two setups for one gig (it's our other guitarists surprise Bday bash) so the Bogner and maybe a combo either Bug v22 or HRD, I don't wanna bring out the Marshall and 2x12 for like an hour gig, I will bring my my Hamer Tele for that one and my Jap Strat for my co-guitarist, and two pedal boreds, and of course D-50 for Keys, the late gig gets Tele Deluxe, Hamer Tele, Bogner, D-50 and new Alesis Micron

What type of snare mic?

Have you experimented with sound deadening gobos to seal up the snare mic yet? Can be anything as simple as a small square of deadening material in between the mic and the hi-hat, up to something ridiculous like the huge red bucket that kurt ballou uses sometimes to enclose the whole hi-hat.

If set up right, it can make a huge difference in how much snare vs cymbal you get there, which can really open up the door for some really heavy snare compressing, without showing the swooshswoosh artifacts of overcompressed cymbals. :idk:
