Lead vox for the Garda EP are done. I retrieve my drive after work tomorrow; then I try and make some sense of all the shit we recorded, do overdubs and program synths.

We set up a Neumann U87 and M149 along with a Shure SM7. Most of the stuff actually got the SM7; we liked its forward, aggressive midrange for the harder stuff. The M149 got used for the mellower vocals for its clarity and top end, and the poor sad U87 just stood there. I feel bad for it. I tried using the M149 for one of the more aggressive tracks when it was my turn, but after some rummaging to find an inline pad for it, as the mic doesn't have one built-in, I went for the SM7- between the output of the mic and how loud I was singing, we were clipping the input with the gain on the mic pre full off.

Now I am tired and my voice is beat.

I have visible excitement bulging just thinking of this....

Both guitarists in my band agree... the tubescreamer is like a 'better' button in their signal chain.

Took delivery of a new camera today, a Canon S95. It's an awesome little camera and should be just what I'm after. Fully manual shooting mode and does raw files, so it's already way better than 99% of other compacts Not DSLR quality but then I don't need it to be.

Almost 100 pages.

i did gain at 9 oclock (like... 15%) and balance at 3 oclock (like, 85%). Sounded GREAT with my marshall. Just enough tightness, with enough grit. Any more gain and it was fuzzy, any less gain and there was less grit. My fav part was when i turned the tone all the way up (trebley) i could sound like toni iommi on Paranoid.



Today i started constructing the parts to mod my computer case. I'm putting windows in everywhere, so i can admire my work. I'm going to be resleeving all of the cables so they look kinda squiddy like in the Matrix, and im replacing the separate side panels with a lightly smoked Lexan. The best part is, i don't have to damage my case AT ALL. All of the panels are bolted in with screws, not rivets, so its super easy to take apart and just replace pieces here and there. So excited.
Also, just found out today, that i have a built in task scheduler in my network adapter on my motherboard. This means i can prioritize network traffic - aka have downloads of whatever running as i game, and still maintain low ping because it prioritizes the game. at least, i think its cool.
So many things i've wanted, and its all finally coming together. Its like childhood dreams come true.

I gots my traxxx back yesternacht. The drums sound bitchin'. The under-snare mic and a couple of the spot mics sound like they're making shit flam badly and look a little off when I look at the files up close so I'll have to line stuff up a bit. Which is odd 'cause they're all zeroed and exported from PTHD. Meh, not much to it though. I suppose with 21 mics you're gonna run into stuff. Now to make some sense of it.

Last night I went into a pizza store and was pretty drunk.

I ordered my food and got it, and forgot that I already paid and I don't know how long (10 seconds? Two minutes?) I was standing at the counter just staring into space until I realized I already got my food and everything. Then I tried to walk out the door and couldn't figure out how to open it. Tried pulling then pushing a few times then realized I was grabbing the wrong side.












I can never go there again.
