Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Then it forever shall be. Speaking of bizarre, we have devised, after doing a whole bunch of work for various minor league baseball teams, a mascot for my department at work. Roger, The Prepress Crocodile. Basically, we'll have someone stand outside in a crocodile costume brandishing a large "prop" X-Acto knife, and we'll put them in a baseball uniform just to make it all the more confusing and uncomfortable to be around.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Just been experimenting with pickups in my SG. Turns out that the lower output Bareknuckle Mule (basically a slightly hotter than "normal" PAF) sounds awesome, and seems to let the guitar sustain better than both the Bareknuckle Pig 90 and the original Gibson pickup. However the Mule won't be staying as it sounds best in a Les Paul. I think when I can afford it I may get a set of BK Riff Raff humbuckers to stick in it. I do like the neck Misissippi Queen P90 though so it's tempting to get a matching bridge one.
I think I have an impossible task trying to get an SG to sustain and "push" lead notes as well as a LP though, it's just not gonna happen. I've heard that an aluminium tailpiece can help, but I can't be arsed to try it out.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
That is what you get for trying to push lead notes. Get on with it already. We don't need any more stoner jams, and we do not need any more David Gilmours. I am half serious though. I have always liked that my SG had a little less sustain going on than an LP, it discourages lingering. I am pretty hyper musically though, and quick short sounds are how i am generally more likely to lean anyhoo.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I don't mean that kind of sustain. It's hard to describe. With high output pickups, this particular guitar feels really "sticky" to play - notes tail off really quickly and it becomes a reet bugger to play and sound smooth on. Doesn't really happen quite so much with lower output pickups. Strange as you woulda thought higher output would compress the sound more and add a bit more gain, but that's not the case.

Yo, drop your pickups down into the body more. You may be killing that biz with too-strong, too-close magnet shit.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Hot humid and nasty to the point it's making me physically ill. I've had nothing but beverage all day and I want to ralph everywhere. On totally unrelated notes: I have an i5 Hackintosh to get the graphics card straightened out on that will then go into Garda's live rig. Guitar-and-backing-vocal session Saturday morning. I may be buying a Bogner 4x12- anyone want a quad of V30s? I'd be putting Greenbacks + Blues in there. A tin of octopus. I feel like hell. Ugh.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Yarr, twas werm today. I was going to mow the lawn, but "fuck it" won out instead.
That was/is one of the radnesses of the NH woods i was in last week: even when it was flat out balls hot in town, it was like maximum 75º at the cabin, and pretty much always wif a stiff breeze. Despite the fact that the region Fills The Fuck Up With Humans during the summertime, i would still consider spending the warmest times up there if i could work it. It is just so solidly decent, weatherly. Plus trees and critters!

It broke 100 degrees without counting the ridiculous humidity today.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Good Goddamn. I've done DC in the summer a few times, so I can imagine... Even in the Land Of Ice And Snow it's brutile; tommorow's s'poda be in the 90s before the redonkulous humidity. I hate summer so hard; I want to be stored in a cool dry place. Now granted in the winner the wind off the lake is like -30 pretty regular, so... Other places with only two seasons get way cooler animals than we do. Can't I at least get some elephants or shit all up in this, even if they're migratory?

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
If it is warm with any regularity, one acclimatizes. I would love to see the seasons ratio shift away from the current winter-heavy schedule, myself. Though, it would mean that i would have to address my hatred of the hateful eye of the sun. Warmth, i can deal with, sunshine, fuck no. Again, i would suggest the woods as a fine alternative. They are practically climate controlled in the summertimes. Fucking brutal in the wintertimes though. But. The (minor) upside then, is that you can also burn the trees!

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Potentially viable. I like to burn things. Buffalo is basically a man-made wind tunnel coming off a lake that's attached to Canadia- I mean, it's like right there down the street- and I've become more reclusive as of late. I don't even see Jen every day and we live in the same house. We're not even sure the other is home unless we're audible. Woods could work. I suppose I'd have to start eating animals again, but they'd be freshly caught and I am okay with this, at least assuming they're not eating out of radioactive waste or anything. I like urban environments but prefer to be left alone. I am alternately a social butterfly or a reclusive misanthrope. I hate people no matter what, which is funny, because I want both some small measure of companionship but mostly solitude. Re: the woods- Jen: Ticks and leeches? Eric: Intentional Tool reference? Other than that, I suppose it's cool?

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
But you also live in the south, don't you? If you live in the south, you have to head for the woods, in the mountains. Here in the northeast, it just has to be woods, ideally with nearby water.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
yar, hot as can be here as well. I am not one for the heat, my ancestors were all from snow countries, and I believe that has some to do with it. I'm happy enough in my cold server room during the day and a nice airconditioned studio at night. Bad thing is summer brings a shit ton of outdoor gigs, which I am not a fan of. OK leet put the performing monkeys up an a stage, in the heat, oh, let's add some lights, and maybe some overspray of saltwater from the ocean, which is just perfect for instruments and amplifiers, yeah, they love that. If you are asking me to play outdoors, do NOT expect my best equipment, you will be getting a MIM tele, and my 6100 or even a Bug V22, the Shiva does not do outdoor gigs. That said, Saturday nights gig is again outdoors and 'sposed to be hovering around 95+. and no, it won't be humid at all....

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Ralph, when talking about sick, should be used more often Weather wise we haven't really had much of a summer yet. There were a few dry and warm weeks but now it's just kinda grey and humid.

I love the heat. What I hate, is fucking humidity.
I would love to live in the desert. Las Vegas is pretty much my ideal environment.
