The inability to coast ruins it for me.

Even less maintenance than a singlespeed as there's no freewheel full of moving parts that could mess up. Oh and the momentum of the back wheel turning makes it a bit easier to pedal up hills as the wheel is also turning the cranks. If that makes sense. Not being able to coast sucks bawlz though.

Psh, freewheels are cheap enough to suffer the additional parts. My SS has so few parts already, it can spare another on there.


Getting uphill easier is nice, but downhill sounds like a complete bitch.

As much as I love Canadia and would heart muchly their takover of my border city (unlike Sarah Palin, I could at least see Canada from my old place) for them to institute such a change would be unconscionable. While I am possessed of a private washingsmaschine, the ability to get change is Damned Useful. I can get exact change from my bank's ATMs! Granted I don't carry cash generally, so...
