So I went to an open mic night tonight, jammed along to a few songs and got asked to be in someones band. Not bad going for one night My playing has got pretty sloppy since I haven't touched a guitar for about a month.

edit - I no longer have the Thor goggles Left them on the chairlift this afternoon and nobody handed them in at either end so they either fell off on the way down (doubtful) or some cunt took them

Gig tonight, gig tomorrow night, tomorrow night, I am lone guitar/keyboard for one set, so time to play loud and fill the void.

also seems my vocal prowess is needed on one of the tunes (deep baritone/bass) we'll see how this goes over

It is way too fucking cold.

Cold? It's fucking roasting hot here (high of 30*C) and is set to be similar for the rest of the week I've been pretty lucky with the weather, I thought it was meant to be cold and rainy in September up hurr. Only had 1.5 days of rain thus far.

Saw Alex's band last night, goddamn that girl can fucking shred bass. They're like, super amped up Jolt Cola chugging ska/punk. Hung out with her and whatnot for quite awhile, 'twas superdope.

That is pretty rad, dude. I used to be way into that type of noise. Perhaps not coincidentally, at that time, i also had equal parts blood and jolt cola in my system.

You would have dug seeing this for sure then, they were going fucking insane and the vibe was totally there. Really solid rhythm section with muted strummy ska guitar and nutzo/awesome trombone playing. It was incredibly fun to watch.

There was also this mathrock band that played before that impressed me incredibly. Crazyass atonal tapping and time signatures with equally frantic drumming, it was just two dudes.

It was overall sweet to get out of the fuckin' house to do something as well finally getting to kick it with her, she's more or less just as awesome as I expected her to be. Most unfortunate as it's fairly unlikely I'll ever see her again.

I went and got sushi take out tonight after hearing great reviews about Samurai Sushi. Maybe I don't really get sushi but this tastes the same as the stuff you get in supermarkets. It's nice enough but I was hoping for moar of a taste explosion. That being said this is the first time I've tried wasabi sauce and it's pretty damn good. Reminds me of horseradish for that sinus-searing goodness if you have too much.

Drummer is pretty effing slick on that maffrock, but those motherfuckers need a bassplayer. And the kids need to cut the shit with animal band names. It is getting like the mid nineties when every metal record that came out had artwork made from Gray's Anatomy illustrations. Cut the shit.

Yeah man, their drummer absolutely killed it. There was some issues with remembering songs and whatnot but it just made them more quirky because it would add to the already entertaining banter between the crowd, drummer and guitarist.

Alex's band sounds like a good time though. Fucking brass section man. I would have murdered people for a brass section in my youngdays.

"A good time" is a fine way to put it. I haven't had that much fun my entire time here in Alaska, though that's something of an understatement considering how much fun I've had here..

Also: Do I hold the record for most Mapz people met? It's a whopping 2 people, but I think I are winrar.
