Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Sounds like you guys are a little fortunate, in terms of backline but not necessarily sound guys.
For approaching the last two years, all maps have been unmiced, drum micing was something I took into my own hands by bringing a kick mic, and sound was done by me and other people in bands.
Granted these are simply local gatherings in dingy holes for generally unwanted music, so it would be this way.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
haha yeah thats been the case with a lot of gigs I did/do with the ole cover band. The drummer also does cheesy discos so has a decent PA and knows how to do live sound well enough for a simple cover band.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
The majority of our gigs are in fairly small places...but they ALWAYS have a PA (Even the three [Just remembered about Virginia Beach] where the guitars went unmic'd, there was still a PA of sorts...just reserved for vocals and drums because they didn't have enough mics.)

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Oh, backline is a dirty word, and I'm happy for the lack of it, but frontline, as it were, is cool. We got sixteen channels, mains, monitors and a real stage today. The venue wasn't hot- the venue was pretty lame, but we were provided for and at the end of the day when my brain functions again- I am usually super-depressed after shows so don't take my word on anything at that point; I am utterly mad so don't take my word period- all things considered, we're a good live band. On my end, I danced and screamed and jumped offstage to solo in the audience as I've taken to doing; I saw people (including a good photographer we know) taking shots; I have "CLASS WAR" and an upside-down cross on my silverburst Tele. Rant from the perspective of an agoraphobic bipolar person deleted. I can barely leave my room at this point let alone my house; that I could hold down a job (okay, I work in a darkroom in the middle of a windowless office...) or play out in a band is kinda shocking; more because I'm a stubborn set-in-my-ways bastard than anything else and feel obligated, even if I can barely cope. Put me on a stage and I want to wreck your shit utterly and am a manic, theatrical performer. Take me off the stage and I am a pathetic thing, trembling wreckage.

My dad and I apparently don't mix well with people who operate on normal schedules.
(READ: We just accidentally woke up my brother and his wife by talking in the kitchen.)

Back in teh UK, it's weird and a bit sad not being surrounded by mountains. Someone needs to change my title to something more fitting

I tell you what, after 2 months of laptop speakers and earplug headphones, I'm totally eargasming over my Mackie monitaurs Playing guitar feels gooood and I haven't got as sloppy as I'd thought.

Some fucking shitbags egged my truck and my rhythm guitarist's car. Apparently someone REALLY doesn't like death metal.

Writing an over-the-top solo with ridiculous harmony lines makes everything better.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I'm not doing squats again, since stopping them for 2 months my knees haven't had any pain or clicking. I might get back into doing deadlifts, benchpress and rows though. I was just doing push ups as I had no access to a gym, I quite like doing em now

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
That's weird because doing squats can improve your joints and all that jazz. Was your form good? And definitely get back into deadlifts and all those other compound exercises!

I've just received the editors comments on my paper. Thankfully they're all easy enough to deal with and are mainly just typos and latex formatting corrections. Boom.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
So does that mean you're going to be getting it published? If so awesome for you I dunno if my form was good, my mates who don't seem to have any problems said it was fine, but I never got assessed by a proper trainer or anything. I was ok with lighter weights (under 70kg) but above that is when problems started happening.

Not quite. It means it can be thrown to the lions that is peer review and if it passes that it can be published

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Wedding was fine. But. Due to my hermit ways there were several folks in attendance who i haven't done a very good job of keeping in touch with. As a result i spent roughly the entire almost seven hours talking, and just about lost my voice. If i hadn't needed to cut out early to drive my peoples back to their apartment, i most certainly would not have made it much further than about an additional thirty minutes in possession of audible speech.
Added bonus of needing to drive my peoples home at that point, was that it was then about at the split where it was to segue from "reception" to "roving band of drunken afterparty", which though i could tell many of my friends considered this the proper beginning of festivities, i am certainly not physiologically equipped to maintain such a degree of consumption. I am simply not wired for it. Coffee: yes/maybe, boozemahol: not so much.

On a chassis? How shiny are you aiming for, and what technique are you using?
