Impiety. Badass Black/death/thrash...reminds me at different points of Angelcorpse, Destroyer 666, and Behemoth. Good stuff.

The Behemoth is more in the vocal layering than anything.

I can't believe you don't like Behemoth. They are like, modern Morbid Angel.

Yeah, I am actually surprised by this.

I'm not into a lot of current metal, but Behemoth is okay. Them and Decapitated I'll give a listen on the off chance I'm spinning modern br00tz.

:idk: Well, Inferno is a nut rupturer of a drummer and all, but their song writing and riffage bores me. And fuck, why won't Polish bands learn to growl?? :mexican:

They do growl, schnegro. Only Vader doesn't growl, that dude just like.. pisses himself and you hear his reactions. Sauron (formerly of Decapitated & now Masachist) growls and Nergal growls too, it's just like.. A very open, human sounding growl.

What, Ministry? It's funny, about ten years ago I'd have that on (or Psalm 69) or Meshuggah or Morbid Angel or Soilwork's Chainheart Machine and would totally pass out listening to them. Either that or write papers or read. My brain would interpret the stuff as white noise. It started, I think, as a vain attempt to stay awake on public transportation and then I realized it had the opposite effect right quick.

Eventually I discovered putting Dead Can Dance on shuffle/endless loop, Cirque Du Soleil soundtracks, Tangerine Dream and the like. But yeah, I get it.

Exactly, it is like an upgraded white noise. Lots of stuff with heavy double kicks work, but that ministry record and the one after both had an eq to them or something that i found really conducive to sleeptimes. Which was nice to have, because back then i really didn't sleep very much otherwise. :red:

Also, it was funny because i used to try to listen to all of these really calm and placid like cinecitta soundtracks back then, but i would just lie awake listening to how the instruments fit together in them the whole time, and then wouldn't fall asleep until the thing was over.

I can't sleep to classical stuff at all for that same reason. Chaotic dissonant metal works, and ambient things and DCD-ish "world" kinda stuff that stays at the same pace throughout works. Delerium is okay for that sometimes too.

My absolute favorite would be Dead Can Dance's Spiritchaser and for that reason alone I may have listened to it- though unconsciously- more than any record ever, by a significant amount.

It's something in the 1-2khz range, isn't it? I hear the sound as the color grey. The other things I've mentioned have a bit of that, the Soilwork record (they were still br00tzy-chaotic then) especially. Morbid Angel's Domination and Covenant... Covenant has that more; Domination is murky and woofy. Some of the Meshuggah stuff as well; there's this mid-thing in the guitars, vocals and snare... Like, I hear it as a color and it's a common color. Domination is the odd one out there.

I am not at all a synesthete, but those two Ministry rekkids are definitely what i would call(and have called in the past many a time) grey noisey. I have never really sat down and tried to figure what actual frequencies i am hearing though.

Though... I think what maybe worked best for that for my sleepability, is actually the way that the high end is set on top of the mix in so many places. A lot of the machinery type noises are held in cages separate from the rest of the mix or something. In this it is similar to another record that i often used to sleep to, Bungle's Disco Volante. I would think that stuff would wake me up, but for whatever reason, it just sort of made me have crazy things happen in unexpected places in dreams and stuff like that. :idk:

Virtuosic Thrashened Death Metal. David Davidson is like, a hybrid of Chuck Schuldiner and EVH. Bizarre shit.

This is what all pop music should sound like. Even if it's a different genre, everything should have to be executed this well.
