There was a bar we went to, it was across the street from where we worked at the time, and the waiters there would actually get in our faces and ask us why we tip so shit. There was the guy who would be all like, "I just wanna know guys, like come on, Y U NO TIP?" and then there was the girl who would be like "I was so nice to you dicks, Y U NO TIP? I NEVAR SERVE U AGAIN~" I suppose the pay there must have been especially shit or something because they did this. I feel bad that we'd tip so shit but they need to realize... we were fucking students. And musicians. I was washing dishes.

Well that place and the rest of the building it was in has been demolished.

Doods. There is no excuse not to tip, not in north america. Especially if it is a place that you ever intend to return to. Servers are not paid shit. If you have enough money to eat out, you have enough money to tip the measly 15%.

If you get shitty service, then *maybe* skip the tip, but don't go back and expect better service, or no bodily fluids in your food...

If you get good/normal service, tip the fucking 15%(at least). Though it is not listed on the menu as part of the price, the owner of the place considers it as if it is there, and they pay the waiters/waitresses as if it is there. When you don't tip, you *are* fucking the waiters over. If they are bad at there job and you want to fuck them over, go ahead, but don't go back there and expect them not to be pissed.

I am not sure but (in Todge's possible defence) aren't waiters actually paid a decent hourly wage in Europe? I believe it is that way in France at least.

I do agree with the tipping 15% at least though. Everyone in this town works service industry though so if you don't tip there is a good chance you are stiffing a friend.

Yarr, there are definitely regional norms, that is why i said "in north america". Indeed, some countries don't expect a tip, but appreciate them, some countries neither expect or appreciate them, some countries actually find them mildly insulting(though, this is becoming less and less likely to come across).

But around these parts, the reality is that because of the way the laws are written, servers actually get paid LESS than minimum wage with tips being taken as an assumed quantity to make up the rest. So even as a dishwasher, geoff would actually be making more than the person he was screwing over the tip.
