I have a feeling that if we lived anywhere close to each other we would have a warehouse full of amps and cabs... What are you building? (I have this feeling I already know, but I just can't figure it out)

All will be revealed soon :eyebrows: The 1st working model might be rolled out this week!

OK so I spent the weekend in Vt for a 2 night gig. They put us up in a band house which was rustic but nice, 4 bedroom 2 bath. Free dinner each night which was at a decent restaurant, PA and sound mand provided, great monitor system, and able to setup run sound check and leave gear setup for 2 days no tear down. Soundman knew what he was doing, nice to work with, the bartenders etc were great and helped us break down and came back to the house the second night and brought some smoke for the band members who like that sort of thing. We also hit a few clubs after our gig and got properly trashed after dancing our asses off all night. Much fun was had, I got properly ripped Friday so I was unable to eat Saturday until dinner.... also our cute female lead has no problem throwing down for drinking games and touch football in the street. She's about as perfect a singer as we could possible find.

First day at the new job was awesome. It doesn't even feel like work at the minute. I need a smartphone though, there's a fair bit of sitting around waiting for shows to start, which could be well spent playing Golden Axe and Streets of Rage on an emulator :red:

and i just threw up. tasted exactly like the red bull and vodkas i had last night.

You know I drank a 50-50 mix of tequila and Red Bull last weekend and I transcended time, sort of. I was cooking and rambling erroneously about the most random shit to my friend's girlfriend... one thing I mentioned was how the Minoans had plumbing yet their Greek descendants didn't, and another, well I can't even fucking remember it right now but we ended up watching a documentary about the Minoans and some other garbage that my drunk ass was blathering about two hours before.

Anyway the drink is called a Dimensions Divide, and the internet told me to make it. You might transcend time. It is not a palatable beverage. You might hurl.

Ugh, I hate tequila. It makes me retch upon its impact with my digestive tract. So nasty. :barf:

Now, several of you have complained about the persons you live with, or persons you have lived with. To illustrate how much of a non-entity my housemate and I are in each others' lives (and we've been friends for years)- I haven't seen her since... I want to say last Wednesday. I know she is still alive as she was apparently walking about the house a little while ago and the energy drink and shrimp tempura roll she asked me to pick up are not in the fridge. Oh, and we e-mail each other from across the hall. The house is of course pristine, because she just goes to grad school to science and I just go down to my studio and lock myself behind a steel security door in a darkened room to work alone all day.

We have actually discussed purchasing foodstuffs online and not leaving the house during the winter. Recluses much?

Does Amazon deliver groceries in your area? It's pretty sweet, I must say.

And yes, tequila is all sorts of horrid.

Rum > any other shot

How cheap can you cheap out on mics for live use? My singer is currently looking at buying a mic pack that includes 3 Shure PG48 or one that has 3 Audio Technica M4000s (both include cables and stands)... Anyone have any experience with either?

My longstanding track record of "getting away with" my ghetto recording rig not breaking down when recording bands came to a partial halt last evening.

Firewire is great if/when it works right. The potential for it not working right kind of makes it unacceptably unreliable though for "real work". Shit was acting cranky as fuck last night, very (inconveniently) reactive to other devices on the same electrical circuit. Little glitchy things here and there, and then basically completely hosed up the bass tracks.

I also NEED to get an interface working that actually has enough correct XLR inputs to record all of the microphones i need to record, as mixing these unbalanced 1/4" signals is just not going to cut it forever. Some ugly shitnoise introduced there that just doesn't need to exist.

Son of a fuck. Could easily have been worse, but i need to figure a more solid system out, before the next band i do ideally. I wonder how "broken" the "broken" Tascam US-1800s MF has for $150 are. I can't even afford that right now, but i *really* can't afford to take a gamble if the thing isn't going to be "fixable". :red:

Something roughly like that is how i am leaning at the moment though. :poop:

On the upside, the drummer had a sweet 5.5" vintagey Supraphonic snare that sounds sweet as all fuck. I would love to have access to that thing just to experiment with different recording techniques. It definitely has a certain simple "right-ness" to the way it sounds.

Karma Mics are pretty cheap, if you buy from their webpage... :idk:
