Re: shots- whiskey. But I may be biased. Re: Firewire- TI chipset for teh stabilities. I've never had an issue on a Mac (with multiple systems + interfaces), but on a PC or a Hackintosh, I have seen sketchiness. Re: my evening, I met Shonen Knife at the studio tonight; they were tracking upstairs from me. One of them washed our beverage glasses when I went to get our coffee mugs. Upon returning I snagged the sink and washed our mugs while being both apologetic (I felt bad! She washed our glasses!) and insisting I was going to clean the rest of our whatnots. Laughs were had. They gave us delicious Japanese candy that was mushroom-shaped with a cookie stem and a sugar top. I ran into the bassist from The Goo Goo Dolls too, but he's always there as he owns the place. I also made the mistake of walking home. Some distance from my house, whilst in a residential area where there are no cabs, the sky opens up and torrential fucking downpour occurs. Mind you it is slightly above freezing. By the time I got home my clothes, coat and boots are soaked through and I couldn't feel my legs. Seriously. Upon getting home I immediately took a scalding hot shower, during which my chest was tingling. And I still feel a bit fucked-up. So there you have it- from associating with rockstars to almost dying of hypothermia, fun wow!

Re: shots - yes whiskey is a man's shot, even one for ladies/lesbians such as myself.
Re: cheap mics - I do not like to go too cheap on my mics for any use, but I've use the PG series now and again, and got away with it. How about those Chinese 57's & 58's. The have gotten decent reviews on gearslutz as I recall.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Listening to eighteen minutes of Vesication. The past week I've been rerecording the drum tracks... so at this point everything but the bass has been rerecorded or is about to be (vocals still need a doing). Just finished drums. Sounds really good IMO. Drums sound like a slightly modern Morrisound to me. Feels good, man.

so I actually see my housemate for the first time in a week and Immense Tardigrades come up in conversation and she and her friend who is over know where we're coming from with this nonsense, that they can suck hard vacuum and keep on rollin' thus we should have giant ones to attack spacecraft.

I want a black faux-alligator-skin frock coat. That would be so immensely deathglam-trashy I could only ever wear it on stage though- otherwise I'd look like an even more preposterous douche than I actually am. And I know persons who do theatre costumes...

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I had a gig cancel for tonight, luckily I was asked to play for another band that I've not played for (actually it's the cover band of a few of the GnR guys) so the night will not be a waste. That's one thing about the cover band circuit here, pretty much all the same tunes by any band. Makes it so I can sit in with about anyone here. My previous self would go forward in time and the kill the now existing me. I'm sure we will add a few GnR songs to the sets.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Hrmm... I like AMS; americanmusical.com, they've always been good to me. Plus the payment plan rocks if yer buying something new. I just signed up for hellomusic.com on the off chance something cool turns up. Is there a specific piece you're looking for? Also, Garda show tonight. Victory will be achieved.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Hellomusic has different random deals daily, several of them. So I guess sorta?
Re: EZDrummer, seriously... who here has used an old digital drum machine? Chris? tor? Sardo? Like a Boss DR-660 (and was I so happy to get that! The 770 was nuts because it was so '90s sounding with the samples, real drums that rang out; I had two.) We woulda killed for that shit in, say, 1998. Not too long ago. the bar, for programmed drums, has been seriously raised re: what you can do.
Of course your still need programming chops, which means in part some drum basics and more to the point an understanding of how drummers play, even sub/un-consciously, the way hits are accented.
And I'm just as guilty as everyone else of not using the thing (or SD2; I gave my EZDrummer install DVD to my bassist) to its potential, but compared to where we were before it came out, damn. You can do a lot with it.
Re: the cab- for a new cab that is fine. A hefty cab with Greenies for six bills new? Now you can pay US prices without import duties, and I don't know what the gear situation where you be is is like, but I'll assume not a goldmine. Normally I think new cabs are a terrible buy across the board but that is not bad at all.
Re: my show this eve... well, to be frank it sucked. We've played that venue a ton of times and the sound is dismal, something always breaks or goes wrong, and the two guys who've run sound there, who I know are fine studio engineers, they'll even tell you this. It's always a mess. We had no monitors for the rhythm section- way too small for IEMs; the drummer has 'phones for his click straight off his sampler and that's it. No one was out to see us- well, not what we usually get at any rate. Doesn't matter. Mr. Chris has described me as the third biggest drama queen in the band. Which is hilarious for anyone who's actually met me- because I'm totally nuts. But I roll with it. I expect shit to happen so I don't get bent over it. Besides, when we were on we were on. We're not hacks. One song was out of sync throughout and we fucked up an intro to a cover song. Meh.
We're taking the week off rehearsal, I'd like to use that time to finish the rekkid, bassist is on vacation, other guitarist is moving, gonna regroup and go from there with some newstuff.

I fucking love SD2.
Currently in the process of acquiring as many of the expansions as I can get my grubby little hands on.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Sucks about the gig... but, you can't win them all! More victory will surely be achieved in the future...
It's funny how bands always do the week off after a gig...

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
S'all good about a shitty gig, you guys sound like your shit is typically on. Moments of suffering the Human Condition are experienced by everyone. Shit happens, man.
And bro, you need to wrap your album up and get that shit downloadablez.
