You're right about the song.
I work weekends so I can't be travelin' about much.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Anyone else ill for new years eve? I've been taking strategic naps to try and sort myself out for tonight but I don't feel right at all. I'll probably not drink as I already feel like I have a hangover, stumbling around everywhere like an idiot Still going out but probably being designated driver. ps Dev I got L4D2 yesterday, me and my mates bought the 4-pack and got it for about £2.80 each

Haha nice!
I really enjoy L4D2, except for the fucking Jockeys. Those little fuckers are annoying when the sneak up behind the horde.

As I program drums for the one song I have written to completion sans-vox, I am starting to learn that often less is more.
Also, The Metal Foundry on SD2.0 is a great piece of software, even for non-metal uses. All 60 gigs of it ....

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
This is troof, save for some specific styles. My drummer is on about this all the time. The bigger his kit gets, the more minimalist his playing gets- everything's just an effect. We got an "I love this guy!"-type response for a song where his fills are just three beats of silence and a single tom hit- that takes some balls. But it works. The guy cites Doktor Avalanche as an influence, and it shows. (This would be the drum machine from Sisters Of Mercy.) Noted on that particular expansion. F me in the A on the size of the thing though! I'll hit you back with Joe Barresi's Evil Drums on that score. http://www.toontrack.com/news.asp?id=151 That man knows a thing or two about pulling drum sounds maybe a little... On a vaguely related note, the building manager at my bandplace was going around with a dB meter. I can only assume he got complaints- there's some kids there that are just stupidly mindblowingly punishingly loud, like it sounds like they're rehearsing in your room through concrete walls and a steel door from down the hall. Apparently he wanted to use us as an example of being reasonable. We are 108 dB in rehearsal; we play at the volume of the drummer and he is not sent through the PA save for his samplers. Though I wouldn't mind the guitars coming up a bit sometimes, but that's just monitoring. We found something that worked and our settings haven't moved for a few shows now. I do recall several months ago being annoyed one night, so I opened the door, dimed the AC30, kicked on my pedals and went for it. I don't know if anyone got the hint, but the backwards digital fuzz filter sweep whammy ring mod gated synth metal licks at deafening levels (oh, and add single-coil hum) probably didn't make anyone too pleased.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Funny... I'd say my rawk band is in the 115db range, judging by the post gain on my 6505+ being in between 5 and 6 during rehearsals. And that's just keeping up with the drummer, PA, and bassist. No other guitarist involved. Loud ass drummer, I suppose.

Welcomed the New Year with probably the most depressing dream I have ever had. But atleast I do not have a hangover. Barely drank last night.

Drank an entire fifth of Kraken last night and no hangover today.
Also.
Happy New Year's mapliticians. Let's make it better, and remember to take advantage of the conspiracy theorists.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
When using real drums and cymbals it's so much louder. 2 of my bands have drummers using electronic kits or a mix electronic triggers and drums with elect cymbals. So nice to practice and place where there is not some monkey hitting a cymbals in my head. Then back to the GnR band where it's old fashioned RnR and everything is loud.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
back from my vacation, well vacation at home with kids. Kids are a fuckton of trouble, but once they are a bit older they are super cool and great to have around. Meanwhile got my JetCity amp in here at work and will try it out during lunch, although I'm at work, I will not be able to get it loud.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Oh, totally true. We're mostly live drums, with the electrostuff from the Roland boxes brought up to match. The situations that I'm referencing are the sort where you can't hear the drums over the guitar and bass amps. or they're sending the drums through the PA at rehearsal to compensate, shit that's just stunningly pointless. There's no need to be well into the 120s at rehearsal. I was in a band like that once, everything cranked, then miced through a bigass PA. Like, Triple Rec or JCM 800 full stacks on 10 miced up. There was just no way you could be in that room- which was quite large- without earplugs. The bassist had the most ridiculous rig, he had 18" folded-horn subs (multiple) in there, what I'm fairly sure was the largest amp SWR made and slaved it out into PA amps. He brought a fucking club PA for a rig. And there I am standing in the corner with a plain old Mesa Mark IV and one cab. Thankfully the drummer owned the building.

Raise your hand if you've brought gear to work or had it sent to work.

I take my guitar to work frequently.
I have a shitty little practice amp that stays there.

My Xaviere Tele has never been outside of my work. I bought it just to have a guitar here at work. I have a storage closet, well more of a storage room, about 12x10 that houses my guitar also an acoustic and right now the Jet City, which is going home tonight.
