Re: so I think I might be an atheist/agnostic
This is a topic that I am very interested in. I too was raised in a church not by my parents, but by my grandparents. When I was really young I was all about it. In the youth programs, etc. Like you, at a young age I started to have serious doubts. By the time I was in 6th grade I had completely shunned religion. I went through that strong "I hate god, god's not real, there's no possible way, etc" thing for a long time. Within the passed couple of years though, I've mellowed out about it. Through much internal debate and external study I find it hard to believe that there is no higher power at all. I do ,however, fully reject the idea that it is the Judeo-Christian God who is invested and meddles in the lives of people. The bible and the other holy books of the Abrahamic religions do not make sense. There are too many obvious fallacies and many more philosophical conundrums.
My personal beliefs are just that, personal, and I don't expect any one to believe the same things. All I know, is I sense an overarching spirituality in everything. I find "god" in the movement of the planets, the infinite scale of the universe, the rage of a black hole, the beauty of a flower opening for the first time. It's all there, and it's there by
something. Before a big bang, or a singularity there was that
something that got it going. It doesn't have to be an omnipotent being, and I personally don't believe that "God" resides in any certain place. It is everywhere and inside of our minds.
Make it whatever you will, I'm sure everyone is facepalming and :freak: about my beliefs but it's a personal journey man. Search for it for your own good and don't rush.
