Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Yarr, i was only somewhat familiar with what stem mixing was, though without knowing its name, it is actually a thing that i have been doing it for a long time. The article did bring up a couple interesting methods for dealing with things that i have run into with using stems though, especially with respect to master buss compression and whatnot, and how to make the stems act like the full mix does on that front.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Yeah, the compression bit was interesting. 'S why I've shied away from doing it for real in the past. My routing scheme has me mixing on the busses by the end, not the channels, when I'm doing dense stuff. I'll dial sounds in individually on the channels, and then buss 'em down as there's often multiple sources. Like, if there's in/out/sub mics on the kick, those get dialed in individually on the channels and then bussed together, which feeds both a master drum buss and a parallel comp buss... And is probably sent out to a parallel distortion buss too. The busses themselves being where I get stupid with the EQ and compression. I'll do some with the Waves SSL G Channel on the channels to get things right (I really like the expander/gate on that too) and use something more colorful in the mix proper.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
What pain do you speak of, Clint? Believe me guys, I'm real jealous that it's not TapeOp that I'm reading while I'm on the shitter, So on the bus today, a retarded deaf man sees me and immediately he's hugging me, hugging me for a long damn time. And then all through the bus ride he's hugging me, grabbing my hands, giving me props, kissing my hands, asking me to sit with him, etc etc. I'm too damn nice, I was just like "yeah,,, yeah, we're buddies now, okay." I have no idea what was going on.

Was out for a friends birthday at some sketchy warehouse in Williamsburg. Every girl i approached ended up asking me if I would sell them coke. Not the soda.

Well, did you? It can be taken in suppository form. I've always wanted to sell foam dinosaurs and Sea Monkeys as drugs, myself.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Geoff we have some nice homeless in NYC ifin you wanna help them out.....
Played at Resorts World Casino last night. Stage was in the round about 15-20 feet off the ground right in the middle of the casino at Bar360 (a large circular bar) Very cool gig for decent money. 4 40 minute sets, which flew by really fast. We actually had to dress up. Very VERY odd for me..... It was really fun though we played to thousands of people and to 2 floors of the Casino. I will post pics when I get them.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
an interesting weekend so far. i got to a great stopping point in a particularly fussy mixing project. i put it away for the eve. went back this morning, and my interface's on/off switch will not allow me to turn it ON. i also got a 1965 fisher 400 full tube receiver. for $0. THIS i am excited about. i am not so excited about the broken interface a week out from another job, and right before the pre-release deadline for the other project

Those old Fisher tube receivers kick serious ass. My dad had a 300 for years.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
The tube receiver, very cool. The broken inyourface, not so much. Is it just not powering on? And you are using the external PSU and not running it off the bus, correct? And can you rig something from the computer's audio out to your monitors? It's not the most elegant solution, but... A 1/8-to RCA cable and a pair of RCA to 1/4 TS adapters would, I think, do the trick if you were in desperate straits. That doth sucketh muchly.

They aren't about to let just any old schmo have the keys to the tiny corvette. Not for nothing, anyhow. Was it like a proper beatdown? Or what?

That other place is particularly full of lonely people today... Wife who don't give out for 3 years, gf who stop taking pills... While entertaining, it is also equally annoying. I think I'm going to change my bookmark of that board to the classified sections as thats all i really browse nowadays...

What annoys me the most is just, the rednecky points of view they have. They are just so unbelievably ignorant.
Now when I ingested the dinosaur pill... no toxicity, though it did feel like my stomach was being scrubbed from the inside by a yellow dino shaped sponge. The turd was a little yellowish and smooth.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
My lung whatnot seems to have largely abated. I still sound deeper and gravelly-er and scratchier, but I suppose I should use that whilst I can breathe and record something with it. 'S just as well; I was planning on heading to the studio today anyhow. I may camp out there. We'll see. It's not shitty out, and I have work to do.
