Today was the first time I had time to play the keyboards for more than like, 5 minutes in a sitting. I am taking to it fairly frighteningly quick, not like I expected.

We had a bit of a listening party for a Garda EP last night. It was approved by the band and is going into the hands of some interesting people this evening.

On other recording-related news, I found a 32-channel modular Soundtracs console with PSU and meter bridge at an electronics supply store yesterday. They were testing it at the time, and have my number to get back to me once it's been fully gone over. My occasional metal collaborator stopped over last night to my studio after we both rehearsed, and apparently he's looking at snagging a 40 or 48 channel Ramsa console from one of the guys he works with.

We also have a session going for the 17th. For, like, someone else's band. We've been talking about starting a studio for a long while, both being iconoclastic gearhead producers of sonic violence. Alas, too soon for us to procure tape. Yeah, it's a fairly straightforward metal session, but it's a start. The band is young, but they play tight, and the drummer is solid. We have a good room for the drums at his (my friend's) place, too.

Having some time off from Garda recordings, I think I'mma start on my solo whatnots proper.

Just sent in a resume for an Associate Producer gig at a local news affiliate. Basically I would be editing tape and scrutinizing feed for on-air quality. It is entry-level meaning the hours will suck only slightly less than the pay, and since it is live on-air feed the pressure and stress will be absolutely silly.

Dev the hours and pay in TV suck but the fun job more than makes up for it. It's so nice being able to actually be happy about going to work, aside from having to deal with directors and producers who need to remove their heads from their arses.

i think the amp forum is DEFINITELY more depressing than it used to be. it's still heinous conservative on the whole, metal-driven, and pretty much still pretty troglodyte... but the GOOD absurd has largely waned, and the non-sequitur, fucked up absurd has kinda gotten worse. it's kinda shitty, actually-- 'cause the whole 'like minded nutbag posse' has kinda exploded, and just turned into a younger, and way less pertinent-to-my-own-interest sorta thing. dunno why i go back.. but i really very seldom even chime in any more.

Mastodon crushed last night, so tight and the sound was really good for once. And the vocals were good, I'd heard they can be hit and miss but they were definitely on it last night.

To be honest I haven't been that way in a long time. I'm a little afraid to now.

HCAF is terrible nowadays, it's one massive clique of cunts. I still like Guitar Jam though. And HCAF is good for trolling, they rile very easily.
