The clean tone really is beautiful. Nice and shimmery. I have been having a lot of "real amp" cravings lately.

You don't even need a good amp for a reasonable approximation. A big part of the trick is fx order.

What i found worked pretty well:
1. Small Stone first. (except for fuzzy, where usually the wah and fuzz need to go before it, to work right)
2. Overdrive(dude uses a Boss Blues Driver IIRC, my Timmy worked ok)
3. EQ (ubiquitous GE-7 )(I skipped it, see below)
4. Dynacomp (this is totally the "wrong" place for it, important though)
5. Amp.

Most of the OD is pedal. The phaser works weird when put before everything rather than(the somewhat more 'normal' placement) after. I suspect that he might be using the GE7 to boost top end a little, i don't have one and didn't find it neccesary with a combination of the timmy(and my brightish settings) and my modded Dynacomp(janglebox mod, way way sparkley). The (stock)Dynacomp darkens the signal up a ton when set to heavy compression, that is why i think he is boosting the mid/highs.

Normally, the dynacomp would never go on the end like that because it amplifies ALL of the noise in pedals in the signal before(listen to the first seconds of the first track and it is obvious that this is what is going down) but it has a HUGE effect on how the clean guitar sound feels, works, and sounds.

He runs it all into an AC30 i think, but really anything cleanloud will work well enough, IMO.

I am going to see if I can't get something pretty close.. I think the middle position on my Tele would work well. It is some jangly, epic sounding shit (just the bridge position is garbage though, IMO).

After giving it a few tries to listen to this: I am not sure if I understand what is happening here. And I mean that in the most honest sense, I literally just don't get it.

That is unsurprising, as there are like, LOTS of things going on with it.

1. Jason Pierce was one of two main doods in the very influential shoegaze/psych/noise band Spacemen 3. Because of this:
2. Jason Pierce loves droning audio elements.
3. But Jason Pierce also loves heroin.
4. And Jason Pierce loves church choirs.

The record just has layers upon layers of... stuff. The louder you listen to it, the more stuff you hear. The mix is retardedly dense and just barely avoids becoming a cacophonous disaster at multiple points.

For me, it is one of the finest examples of how you can cram an orchestra's worth of shit into a group of songs, and not have it sound like an orchestra, so much as a really wacked out indie rock record.

Checking out Pandora for the first time at work... made a Morbid Angel station. Since the boss is cool with me playing guitar at work, I'm trying this. I'm tired of working on cars without music. I wish he'd let me drink on the job... fixing cars is so much more fun when you're trashed.

EDIT: Where the Slime Live followed by Death - Secret Face? I think I like Pandora.

This is more or less what I get out of it.

After the first track I was like, "Hmm, there's a lot of shit going on here." I was skeptical and figured I'd just kind of tune it out into background noise. Once the second track hit though I completely changed my opinion. It really is such a dense mix of stuff going on, but it is done well. Also the combination of angry indie-rock riffs combined with blaring horn sections won me over super fast.

The album is definitely not for everyone.

That, is one of my most favoritest fastrock records of all time. For a long period it was far and away my numero uno. Dave Witte is completely fucking unstoppable on it. And it was just as impressive, more so really, live. :huzzah:

There are some blasts on here that are pretty scary quick. Great guitar player too, I dig the way he uses dissonance for crafting semi-melodies of jarring torture noise.

Discordance Axis is by far my most favoritest grindcore band. I love Chang's lyrics on that record.

Would recommend this to anyone who digs grind/punk/hardcore.

After listening to ^THIS^ for a second time, I gotta say it's one of my favorite things I have heard in the genre.

Ah, Infected Mushroom... the soundtrack to every Israeli gathering I've attended for the past year and a half.

I love this particular Jewish lady. I think it has a lot to do with her non-perfectness.
