I would say: It is pretty fucking sweet. You get a taste of all the seasons. Shit is safe as fuck. The laws are awesome and very progressive. There are plenty of areas where you can compromise between being close enough to the city to get there quickly while not having to suffer it when you don't want to. There is and has always historically been a music scene, even outside of Seattle itself depending upon the time. We hold claim to Hendrix and Cobain, for fuck's sake.

These people I speak of are fucking lame, and seek sunshine. Fuck Vitamin D. And fuck these people.

Sunshine can bugger off mostly. And I am a city-dweller at heart; I prefer being in the urban area proper. And it seems like a quality place from all I've ever heard- approved. :tu:

On a vaguely related note, I've officially concluded I'm a local scene person again. I've been going out a lot the past couple months, after not really going to much of anything at all that my band didn't play for a good long while, and found I prefer it to being a recluse. I barely have any social interaction outside of the band and the couple other random musicians I work with occasionally anyhow. I am a social creature, if a bitter, snarky bitchy one. I doubt the level of debauchery will reach its peak levels, but it's sure been a hell of a lot less :wall: boring.

They should all move one level up to BC and experience the delights of that area.

West Virginia's like that... except the music scene is nonexistent and you have to deal with inbreds once or twice a year. Just stay away from the REALLY rural areas and chances the people you meet will be civilized. But the big difference is, West Virginia has sunshine and nice weather... and whole weeks where it doesn't rain a single drop. :bangin:

It's still a cesspool though.

I was born in Charleston, and we moved when I was four. But my mom always says it's a beautiful state, just stay close to the cities.

I might have to shave. I am feeling the wrong kind of crazy lately. And my awesomeridiculous facehairs are kind of just making me feel even more useless and immature at the moment.

Alternately, i need to get a job asap as a period correct shopkeep/cooper/19th century detective impersonator.

Fucking Doom.

Check to see if there is anyone in the area who needs a male model for old-timey stuff. Being in a historical area, you might actually find something.

I plan on moving to Seattle when I come back from Alaska, I think.. I have some reservations about living smackdab in the heart of the city though, for whatever reason.

Urban living is the way to go. I can't wait to live in a city where I can walk/take public transportation to get around.

Myrtle Beach is already spread out as fuck, then factor in the lack of proper public transportation and I spend an absurd amount of time in my car.

I know I have said it before, but you and Babs should look for gigs out here in the good ol' PNW. I am sure there's more work available in Cali and the like, but it would be worth a shot. :idk:

The work to competition ratio in Cali i fucking balls though.

And we have actually been looking into the PNW because we went up to the Applachians and she loved the mountains. I personally wouldn't mind the local government as opposed to the ridiculously corrupt local politicians here in SC. I could also use a break from the hell-weather.

Well, we have a different kind of hell-weather, depending upon your perspective. I enjoy the rain, so it don't bother me. But the aforementioned fools, they just don't get it.

I deal with tropical storms and hurricanes on a yearly basis. I'd rather take consistently "bad" weather to the occasional natural disaster weather we have.

I know that is a simplistic view on the climate differences between the SE and PNW, but fuck you whatever.

How bad is hurricane season for you? Irene became Cat 1 as it hit and knocked out power for about a week last year but that's about it. Since we are so far down south and east the storms aren't usually that well developed when they hit.

We have been damn lucky with hurricanes recently, but our shit has gotten fucked up by some storms. Hugo in '89 was the last real motherfucker to do serious catastrophic damage, since then most have been under a Cat 3 which tend to just more damage to the local plant life and trailer parks (also since Hugo, most structures have been designed to withstand hurricane forces.) A lot of the tropical storms that spawn down in your area and west/north of that we get, but my town in particular has an advantageous position on the coast. We sit on a crescent west of the Gulf Stream that allows us to dodge storms that get dragged north. If a storm gets west of that though, we get it.

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Myrtle+B ... na&t=m&z=6

Tropical depressions and sever thunder storms are damn common, especially considering our extremely humid swamp-land which feeds storms. This season is projected to be a tough one for us though, if climate patterns are as predictable as meteorologists hope they are (they aren't).
