I will vouch for the spiffiness of teh tor muff. (and I'm not speaking of my chick's cunt, although that's pretty spiffy too) It's not on my current board, because it is not needed for I am doing, but the new board is in on Saturday and it will be there anyway, but it is the only pedal I am using at my practice hall. I run very mild dirt then kick in the fuzzyness for just about every tune. It will be on the main board for gig om 9/1.

I've found myself super-depressed and unmotivated lately. Not an "oh, the angst-and-tragedy!" sort of depressed; more a "who gives a fuck about, y'know, things, and why should I give a fuck about things?" sort of depressed.

Solution: re-visit the mopey down-tempo funk t00ns on my solo record. Find dirty '70s dumpster-funk sounding drum samples. Program. Grab Jazz Bass. (The Musicman I originally tracked them with was sorta fucked up and giving me weird nasty spikes, especially on the slapping parts.) Grab Sansamp Bass DI & FMR compressor. Drink booze. Track bass.

We'll see if this works.

I regularly get asked if I'm Canadian because of how I speak. (Canadia also being about four miles down the street?) I can sort of see it (and I would have articulated that as "sort of", not "sorta") but I wouldn't pass alongside a real Canadian.

I am in the land of ruthless Long Guylan accent. I get asked freak went lee "Where youse from?"

People rarely believe I lived in SC for 20 years, and are even more surprised to find out I am a native of West Virginia.


ARTICULATION MOTHERFUCKERS, IT'S A THING.

Yarr, i am from Bawston. My relatives are essentially from a combination of New Jersey and Boston. My immediate family is like a bizarre island of correctly pronounced words in a vast sea of language abuse and missing consonants. Growing up, i do not know how we learned of the existence of the letter "R", but we have always had it here.

Most of my dad's side of the family carries varying degrees of boston sounds. Some of my mom's side bears the NY/NJ tonez. Pretty much no one who grew up in this house though sounds like anything but a small group of newscasters. My youngest sister experimented with an accent when she was an asshole, but she drifted back 'normal' after the accident and the kid.

It is interesting. Most of my friends don't have accents either. I wonder if that had anything to do with how we became friends. I mean, it is kind of a rare thing around here amongst the natives. Though, one of my friends DID used to have a pretty heavy bawston tilt to him, he also made a heavy and successful effort to eliminate it for the porpoise of like, being able to do Shakespeare and not sound ridiculous at it. So maybe it is more of a mindset thing, similar mental wirings that, as a random side effect, make speaking correctly, desirable to a person?

As a half-aside, it is however funny to hear my older sister, when she is talking to people who work for her in NY, she will occasionally drift into some sort of newscaster/Manhattanite hybrid. As if that is the language of her audience, and subconsciously, she wants to make a point that she is (or was) one of them, as well as their king, or something. It is amusing to behold, and totally subconscious on her part.

In other news, i think that there must be some ragweed that has grown large enough to cause trouble around here. Pretty much the only allergy i have, but gadzooks, i have it pretty solidly.

That is actually a fairly common phenomenom.

When people are having a dialogue, usually one or sometimes both of the partied will try to "readjust" their delivery to suit their audience. Sometimes it's just to reduce uncertaintity (I am like you, so you should like/trust me!), sometimes it's to establish a common bond (we talk the same, so we are totally like the same!) and sometimes it is just a subconscious effect of talking to someone with markedly different behavior patterns to their delivery method from your own.

We as people have complex about having people like us, and (being the naturally-separatist assholes that we are) we have a tendency to classify/label people based on how they differ from us. So in our head, when we talk to someone we have applied a label to, we try to conform ourselves to match the qualities of the label we applied to the other person.


There is actually way more than that for me to go into, but I have a feeling no one is giving fucks about the scholarly analysis of interpersonal communication. Shit, I have a degree in this shit and I struggle to give fucks.

Well I have a Toronto accent. I speak like I'm too lazy to say things properly, otherwise it's fairly normal sounding. The siddy of Tronno. It's all aboat not giving a shit aboat full enunciation.

It is for sure totally common. It is also just about equally hilarious every time i hear it. I mean the shit behind it is pretty logical/rational, but i still find it amusing.

I probably do it too, but probably not with accent. I suspect that my version has more to do with whether or not i use awesome words, and the general frequency with which i utilize obscenity.
