I give at least one fuck, perhaps more. 'S relephant to my academic interests, and because said interests are also real, actual interests of mine, not just mercenary ones.

I do the same thing- mostly consciously, depending on circumstances. At least, as much as I can. Certainly my "professional" voice is noticeably different from how I'll actually speak in conversation with someone I'm familiar with, or in more casual circumstances. There's levels. It's acting; I really don't see it as being any different from performing on stage. My "phone voice", from years of dealing with clients, kinda shocks people who are used to hearing something that's, well, lilting, singsongy, on the effeminate side. And it's something of an effort to drop the really precise diction and wherever my phrasing and vowel sounds come from (not any of my family's accents, that I can tell; Poland, Iceland, etc. and my parents & siblings all speak like newscasters all the time). Buffalo does have an accent, but you're as likely as not to hear newscaster-voice or otherwise, too; really depends on social grouping and ethnicity. I mostly hear newscaster-voice among caucasians, at least younger people.

My housemate does something similar-ish; she's half-Spanish/half-Cuban, and her parents live outside Barcelona. She grew up in Chicago. And says she has some sort of speech issue that forces her to talk this way or she'll sound silly- but has the most precisely enunciated unaccented English you'll ever hear.

This has a lot to do with whom I'm talking to. The worst part is knowing I have to tone down the Awesome Words, or even just the Sounding Intelligent (this makes me happy I do not currently have a Real Job), more than not dropping the F-, C- or other bombs.

You should hear my band talk. Oh-Em-Eff'n-G. It's pretty impressive, between the things that get referenced and the horrid language.

But yeah. It's not the not-swearing. I can live with that. It's the not being able to use that word because the person I'm talking to doesn't know what it means. Have I ever mentioned I have a professional hatred of salespeople? Something about the Peter Principle... I digress.

If anything, i swear more than normal, like swearwords take the space of thought-out language. I mean, i swear a lot as is, but... yeah.

And actually, that is probably it in general, the thought-out vs. simplequick sorts of informations. I actually tend not to use very awesome language in spoken form, in general, just partly because i can't help but think that even amongst people who understand all the words(which frankly, i believe to be: most people, another conversation point perhaps) it is so uncommon to think about what one wants to say before they say it, or even, to think about it while they are saying it. It is so... out of fashion, that doing so, tends to put people on a kind of defensive stance. Or no better, a competitive one. Like a "oh, so we are going to be using big words huh, i know some big words! how 'bout this one?..." sorts of shit.

Nah, i spend much more time putting ideas together when typing than when speaking. When speaking i tend to aim for expedience, efficiency, and then, always, clarification. Ideas(half-baked or otherwise) out first, details later. Conversations are quicker and more fluid, so you can spit out some thought and then adjust it as the thing carries on, so that the other folks know what you are really on about. Typing, you kind of have to get it closer to right the first time, because that text stays up there in the air for reference purposes, and it is funny, because even when it says something different than what was meant when it was typed, the new meaning of it kind of sticks to it and colors it.

I also have a tendency to, via my own self image sorts of er interestings, not trust all of my language in real time. It is totally crazy actually, because, like, my language/braindictonary is pretty functional, but just the same, i tend to tone it down a lot, and i think partly due to it simply sounding strange, to me, when it comes out of me.

I also occasionally have some very interesting pronunciations pop out, generally of words that i read and write but that people don't use often enough for me to have heard how they actually sound. That is so... embarrassing. :red:

Nah, in general my speaking is pretty toned down. Usually just tiny veins of confusingly erudite shit crammed between monosyllabic obscenity-laden sailor/construction worker bedrock talk.

Well I joined my old (Envenomation and stuff) drummer's band to replace their guitarist. It is slam death metals, and it is primarily why I've obtained a 5150!

It is also why I've been having PA inquiries. We are all gearing up to get rehearsing, though mostly, our drummer is.

Hrm... Depends, really on who you're dealing with. It does throw most people off, IMO, and things get deployed inappropriately. There is, or can be, the implication of intellectual arrogance there- and that's really not who I am, but that's how people react to it. (And there are those who get the meaning but not, exactly, what was said, or who are all like "...huh? Stuff, and things?") For better or for worse, it's how I communicate- what I say isn't really that different from what I type; if anything I'm actually worse (read: more annoying) when speaking as what I write on the forums is somewhat more conversational (parse how it reads- 's written- there's an "'s" I'll never actually say- as if it were dialogue in a novel or something) than what I actually say.

But yeah, like a fucking sailor. It's pretty horrible. Speaking, I tend toward stream-of-consciousness, and I think in Big Words And Phrases, run-on sentences; I am That Asshole who uses semicolons in text messages... And with my friends/acceptable acquaintances I make no attempt to bother communicating like a normal human. And if I feel the need to interject "fucking cuntflaps!" or something along those lines, I will. It needed it. Sounding like a normal-ish person, or what I think I should be expected to sound like were I a normal-ish person, takes effort. :idk:

I swear way too fucking much. Devin can attest, I am sure considering how much time we kicked it fo'. And like, I use disrespectful words I shouldn't. Calling girls bitches, not like talking to their face, but: "Yeah, Jessica is so nice, I love that bitch." Shit is ridiculous. And every dude becomes "that motherfucker." I also have a bad habit with using racial slurs outside of their original intended use, that's fallout from all my best friends having been raised in the south and midwest (I don"t know why that has all been the case, two from Texas and one from Kansas). That one I have been really trying to shake, as it's a stupid/dangerous habit. Hard though, fucking 9th grade is when that shit started, it's deep in my brain.

Basically, I have a bad brain and I am going to hell.

Aw yeah. Word.

Several of my friends went to see Dead Can Dance last night. I Am Envious (Yellow).

There are several dry-erase boards up in The Snaxodrome/Garda HQ. And while I know it's really not our bag being a "serious" band and all, I think some of the things that wind up on the boards make awesomer song titles than our actual song titles. Wipe Your Wombat, Knuckle Dragger, Le Bullshítte, Hero Of The Soviet Union... Considering we have actual performed-live gonna-be-on-the-record songs that still sport titles like "Victor Hugo Boss Hogg" and "State Of Texas Belt Buckle" despite having actual lyrics... I do like the nonsense titles; they have Things Going For Them.

yeah damn that whole Back in Black album while being over played in it's day. Well there was a reason. That shit was down right fucking killer. I would say they were one of the few bands that when changing a major member of the band while not better, they were equally as good.

Funny though, I did see Bon with them, but did not see Brian Johnson ever.

Okay, now that you've done this, get Back In Black, the whole record. Just listen to it from start to finish. (It's quite a good sounding record, too, if you have it in any decent quality and are on a half-good system.) Trust me on this one. People who like big loud guitar rawk but aren't normally into the arena rawk thing still think this is a gen-you-wine great fucking rock record.

It's full-on Fucks Not Given Here rock-and-roll, period-full stop-done. If you want to call it party rock, it's the sort of party rock even the nerds, stoners and heshers can get into because it doesn't give a fuck about being smooth to get into the ladies' trousers; it's too concerned with the business of rawking out and what you think of it, well... fuck, so what, they're rawking out. The people who were too busy listening to Slayer or Skinny Puppy or Big Black or whatever 20 years ago still like AC/DC. I can attest to this and so can my band.

It's a lot like punk, really. And I know more than a few punkers who like AC/DC because... Well, it really is a lot like punk. Put on Back In Black and feel fucking empowered, because fuckit, rawk.

Isn't it perpetually edging up on Thriller for worldwide best-selling album ever? Doesn't have to be high art to be a masterpiece. 'Cause those are very good records. Even outside of historical context, or influence- those are almost too ubiquitous; they just are what they are.
