Look like cheap Stetsbars, probably decent but probably not the most solid trem in the world either.

I try to avoid the sort of fuckings that involve miserable hell. Especially where my tuning's involved. My personal life or my bank account? Yeah, I'll deal; been there, done that. But my tuning is sacrosanct.

They claim improved stability. Over what (presumably a Bigsby), I'm not sure. And they do look visually correct on a Teleblaster. This is important, or we'd all be playing Steinbergers or Chapman Sticks or something. (Except they sound funny and I wouldn't want to play either sitting down and...) If I had my way (and money) I'd have a Tele with a trem if only for show- the appropriate-looking bigass trem apparatus grafted on to a Tele is impressive looking- but it's really not a practical device at all. A Tele is nothing if not utilitarian. It's Solid Guitar, Electric, Mk II(B) olive drab. But a nice, functional trem like a Wilkinson or something doesn't look right on a Telecaster. Though Carvin will build one for you and I'm sure it's a fine instrument. A Floyd or Kahler or similar would just look daft.

I don't reckon Laneys get very squishy, think a lot of the distortion comes from the preamp rather than power amp. That clip was with the volume at around 3 which is pretty loud on the laney. It doesn't really get louder past 5, just more distorted.

There's am ASAT on HC that's for sale with a floyd. Funny it's not as disgusting as it sounds. Doesn't really look tele either though. Has funny pinstriping as well

When it stops getting louder and just gets more compressed & distorted, that's the power amp breaking up. Unless it's cleanyclean, most of the distortion is gonna come from the preamp anyhow. You could try setting the gain fairly low and turning the master way up, but that's going to be the aforementioned very, very loud. Like, however loud the Laney gets, that's going to be it. Which may or may not even sound good with your amp or power tubes. Up all the way you're probably driving the output transformer, too, which is its own animal and does affect the sound in a really noticeable way. Sounded real shitty on my old Mesa Stiletto, which sounded nice with the power section breaking up.

That'll probably get you closer with what you have. Adjust Rat in front to taste. If you have a clean channel (no idea what model you have), maybe try that turned way up? The problem is sweet, delicious volume, though, still.

For a good while before I got the AC30, I was running a pair of THD Yellowjackets with EL84s in my Mesa to knock it down to 15w, which was still loud enough to hang with a moderate drummer but was never, ever clean at volume. Surprisingly controllable and a lot quieter than a 100w head. (Add Greenbacks for further inefficiency + rawk awesomeness and there you go?) I think I only paid $50 for the pair off HC.

Yeah, the one show (shitty early evening bullshit program) wanted to do a piece on the project I was on as its all about extreme rainfall/flooding and we've had plenty of that shit this week so they rolled out the footage. Its only a 5-6 minute segment from the program and they don't really get any of the science in but we weren't expecting that. It would have been nice if they'd hovered about by my rack when we were in cloud though as they could have got some nice footage of the cloud probes doing their thang but it was pretty fucking turbulent and they were too soft to strap in and walk about the plane.
