Sucks Tom. We have done that with enough dogs that after the last(and craziest/best) one my dad basically demanded that no more dogs be acquired ever. He definitely took it the hardest.

The last couple cats we have had around here seem to have learned how to be cats by watching various dogs actually. They were/are sharp like cats but weird and social like dogs. The orange cat was by far my favorite of all the (too many) pets we have had over the years. Sucked a lot when he had to go.

The current stripey/grey cat we have doesn't seem to know much about being a cat except for the sitting in the window thing. She would just sit next to my chair 24/7 if i didn't keep kicking her out of the room. She goes crazy like a dog when i go away for a couple days and return too. Very weird cat.

In troof, my dad said it for the last three out of four of them, but i think it is going to stick this time. Einstein(the last one) died like ten years ago or something, and my dad is still adamant, even as my youngest sister (who lives with them) is lobbying for a new one so my nephew could have a non-cat (their cats are completely insane) pet. Dad held strong though and the most he would let them bring in, wound up being a chinchilla.
