Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
The main issue, aside from speaker suitability(frequency response and ability to handle the big forward/backward movements of big low ends without overheating the coils, etc), will be that a guitar amp, by design, cuts tons of low end out of the signal, compared to a bass amp.
For me, this is fine, i actually like to use tubescreamer-types for bass dirt, and they do the same thing really.
But if you like a really full low end sound for the bass, it won't be there.
At lower volumes, pretty much anything goes. But even there, plugging direct into the board will give much more low end than a mic'ed guitar amp set as bassy as it can go.
Best solution, IMO, would be to mix speaker types, and possibly use two amps. Most folks who run guitar amps for bass do this, notable example: Lemmy. I don't know how much his Marshalls have been modified though, it is possible, even likely that they have been changed to let more low end though the preamp. Though sometimes, when you hear motorhead, it does sound pretty much just as one might expect a pair of cranked marshalls so sound like as a bass rig, kind of more like an extended scale guitar.

Sounds like it'll probably just be easier to get a bass combo then. I've been thinking if me and my mate can find at least a drummer then with a practice amp I could fill in on bass until such a time as we find ourselves a bassist.

You could always just grab a bass-happy cab for cheapused or borrowed, and try it out.
I mean, for realz, i have seen folks in clubs playing bass through dead stock Hot Rod Deluxes. Lots of things can work, it really depends on what you need/want it to sound like for whoever you are playing with.

I really think I am going to start bringing a book to bars, just in case. Especially when I am dependent on someone else to get me home.

Also, I saw a touring metal band by the name of Blackguard earlier entirely by accident; the metal show was running long before my friend's industrial DJ night. I think they're French-Canadian? Ladydrummer, it appears. They seemed pretty tight. Melo-death, I guess, from the bit I caught? I noted the one d00d had an ENGL Fireball through an EVH 5150 III cab. Sounded quite alright to me. The ENGL stuff consistently surprises me, which it really shouldn't at this point. I guess 'cause I was introduced to it through random clips on HCAF, and the ones I've heard or played sound much better in person.

Congrats! Look forward to the piks
On another note, a member of the extended family died and I will be within an hour of Mr O'Caster but sorry to say will not have a spare hour to get over to see him. That sux. Of course having to attend the death services of someone I care about sucks more ass than that. I may not be able to check in for a few days gents.

Re-cutting aaaaall of the bass for my solo rekkid tonight. (And probably tomorrow, too.)
I just didn't like what I got out of the Musicman when I did them the first time months ago. The strings were way dead and there was something up with the electronics. And I think the intonation, too. So all snogs are receiving Jazzbassings. Clean DI + Sansamp, HM-2 for fuzz on at least one so far. Clean DI will get remapped through various and sundry realmaps. (And may or may not wind up being used on its own.) I'm about halfway done tracking so far.

Lotsa mojo needed on this page for tor and metalfanat1c
I am so confused by this thing an acquaintance of mine keeps facebooking about called Young People's Revolution. Is it a cult? Is it an ad campaign for an energy drink? What ever it is the result seems to invariably be douchy young people dressing fancy near BMWs.

Jammed with a bass player and a guitarist/keyboardplayer/singer the other day with Landon. Lots of promise in both dudes, bassist knows what the fuck it is to be a true bassist and plays real well. Other dude is equally impressive instrumentally on his instruments, plus has a real good clean singing voice.. Both seem super enthusiastic with my "vision" for a band, so.. The puzzle pieces may be fitting together.
