Hearing the mice in my apartment and knowing they aren't getting caught in my traps is disheartening. :red: I'm pretty sure I can hear them nomming stolen dog kibbles.

What are you baiting them with?

Kibbles. But the traps are supposed to be baitless, you just put them in traffic areas and they get snapped up. I guess the traps probably smell like death by now so the mice are staying away. I will bring out the big peanut buttery guns and we'll see how this goes down.

In other news... Death - Spiritual Healing sounds wayyyy better if you speed it up a bit.

Yarr, word on the street is: peanut butter is like mouse crack.

Also: they can't really run off with it.

Well, looks like my journey via automobile from here to Illinois is approaching rapidly.

I wish i had some reason to take a longer trip out there, but really, when one is talking about traveling, as winter begins in earnest, the stretch of USA that is the upper halves of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana, i suppose one is better off to stock up on coffee and portable vittles, and just hammer through it.

My fingertips are in agony trying to learn that Protest The Hero song, I'm not used to tapping :red: Still managing to make fairly good progress though considering I never normally play that sort of thing. My amp sounds absolutely shit for that saturated tight modern metal tone though, even with a boost it doesn't seem to work. Flubby low end and a bit thin and dry sounding :( definitely does need re valving though so maybe that's partly to blame.

I could never tap for shit, even when I played and listened to lots of metal. I suspect you need a lot of gain (or amp volume, so the compression works out the same) and a particular touch to do it right, otherwise it sounds like arsehole.

Test oscillator tells me I can hear an 18k sine wave. I wouldn't say I could hear 20k but I can perceive it as not silence or amp noise from the monitors. 19 is easier. Both of the latter need to be up loud-ish. Case fans and electrical hum make up most of the noise here ATM. 16k is annoying as fuck. I'm somewhat surprised by this given I shouldn't be able to hear these at all, being in my early 30s. This probably explains somewhat my penchant for weird extreme high frequency boosts (why I like the 20k band on some EQs) and harping on the "space between" things.

I should bust this out at the ol' Snaxodrome when there's no one there. When that building is empty late at night, it's so fucking quiet you can hear a hard drive spinning when you're standing in the back room.

Funny you should mention hearing range, in one of my classes we are programming Arduino controllers to make shitty little piezo speakers do a 'hearing test'. And well it seems my hearing ends somewhere around 17khz. I thought I had more range than that. :?

Actually my Arduino program is not a very good way to gauge hearing range but on a tangent I ended up doing a hearing test on a webpage and that's how I found out it's 17khz. When I was doing so I felt like the webpage was trolling me because I simply didn't hear anything at 18khz... like, 'are they trolling me or what?'

On the subject of tapping it's a lot easier on looser strings and big frets. If you don't have these things I can see how it would be hard. If you picked up an Ibby RG or something the tappies would be really easy to pull off.

This thing kinda gets my attention. I want something with a vibrato on it purdy bad, the longing is growing strong..

http://www.fender.com/products/modernpl ... t_info_nav

Those Fender 6 screw trems though, they kinda sketch me out. Do you dudes have any recommendations on non locking bridge/nut systems? Those weird 90's Fenders with the roller nuts look kinda interesting. :idk: I also have liked the Jazzmaster and Mustang bridges I have encountered in terms of the feel of their physical action. I would just want something that could best handle switching between standard and open or other possibly fucked up tunings and a decent amount of whammy abuse. It would be my "not always in E standard" guitar" basically. With it I plan to learn to wield gnar harmonics and feedback with tortured whammy violence.

American Fender? 'S what I have on my Strat, and Chris from Garda has on his, though his has the roller nut. (Obviously, since both are USA Strats...) They're alright. Wilkinson, maybe? Though I don't know how easy a retrofit that would be, while an American Fender trem would probably be a bit easier to get in there.

I think one of my friends put a Wilkinson in his Strat; I'll ask him about it. He has an assload of guitars, though, so I could be remembering wrong? That's probably your best bet for sheer stability in a non-locking system, I think.

I played one the new Marauders, they are odd beasts but not in an entirely pleasant way. The one I played in the shop was setup like shit so there is that.

Yeah, those American bridges are pretty darn nice, 'least the ones I played. They feel much more solid and "accurate" to me.

I think I will take a look around for some used Fenders, they made some pretty interesting ones over the years that have fallen by the wayside that could probably be had for real cheap.

BUT, THEY LOOK PRETTY COOL THOUGH, YEAH?

Eh, I guess I am not blown away by this, might be smarter to go expensive Squier over cheap Fender. Those Squier Modern Player JMs look kinda win.

that's pretty bonerfied right there.

I like a 2 point trem instead of the Fender 6 screw, but it is a classic and seems like a lot of people really honk on them and can keep some type of tuning. I too have hread nice things about the Wilkinsons and I like the American 2 point
