Man, chimps can be cold.
They are really nasty creatures. (Bonobos, on the other hand, just want to fuck whatever.) It is far too easy to see humanity's darkest impulses in the chimpanzee- killing for the sake of killing, and they are a little too close to human to see them entirely as a blameless beast. And yet it's the gorilla, far less aggressive a creature, that people see as monstrous, because of its size. Not on my list of people to invite over. Neither is the gorilla, for that matter, but the gorilla seems pretty chill. The chimp isn't getting past the bouncer- that bastard's too likely to cause trouble.
Also, "humanzee" would make a pretty schweet title for a DM song, methinks. (This is a real term for a theoretical hybrid... There's a chilling thought. Of course this is a mysterious experiment to create super-soldiers for the Soviet Union.)
In which they disassemble the giant squid:

I can't find the article or video, but I remember hearing about a species of primates that IIRC were chimps that would have territorial gang-style warfare, including roving death squads who would commit ape-genocide for territory, resources or just because they could. Shit was fucked.

Re: The Chris Thread
One of the interesting things re: chimps is how they have observably different behavior from region to region and group to group- culture to culture, basically. And it makes the nastier ones that much creepier. Franz de Waal's books on apes are very fascinating, and accessible to a non-academic audience in the way Richard Ellis's books on ocean life are. And his Eating Apes, on the bush meat trade, is rather sad. (A fucked up and very human tale that involves the complicity of western European forestry corporations and the abuse of workers, too.) But I digress.
Speaking of which, watching more of Inside Nature's Giants, I can't help but be amused what a light and gentle voice Richard Dawkins has. It seems so out of character, given his popular image as a writer of anti-religious screeds.

Armored Pig Carcass sounds pretty metal, too.
Come to think of it, the meat tenderizer bit on the end of the poleaxe makes me think of a former drummer's term for the aforementioned kitchen utensil: meat hammer. Which is about as metal as metal things can be. Fucking Meat Hammer. There is a band name for you.

Dude just keeps running the opposite way after throwing is the best part for me. The raccoon getting thrown would be funny, but the simultaneous movements of the chimp are truly spectacular. He clearly gives so little fucks.

How things were back in the day:
Quote:
A man running for office set out near the polls several barrels of rum and neat whiskey, along with applejack and beer. Any candidate who didn't offer a few drinks was considered too stingy or lacking in respect for his neighbors to deserve their votes. Several years earlier, a planter named George Washington had been rejected for failing to provide decent drink and a roast pig. Washington learned from that defeat, and the next time he ran he bought a quart and a half of liquor [italics mine- Snax.] for each of his 361 supporters and won his seat in the Burgesses.
Vote George Washington. He'll give you two fifths of decent booze.

Stumbled upon this review of a pickup, which impressed the hell out of me:

Micro double format simple to implement on a telecaster bridge, made in DiMarzio. It's a rather special, trs rock is a sr, but I think it's a shuffled between a single and a double micro, kept the best of both worlds, not background noise, big potatoes in distortion, clear sound slamming. This keeps the micro cot slamming the tele. Frankly I love, I see it more as a simple over boost. I use it on a head Valvestate 8100 (EHX12ax7 inside), a Boss DS1 changes and some fairly standard effects (chorus, flanger, phaser) and it is the sound I was looking for my tv that j 'it would have AIM slamming a bit less, but it's a bit paradoxical to say, speaking of a tele. As I struggled against for mounting micro despite the fact that I had sent a schema by the guy at DiMarzio. So here is a good microphone that will boost your tv if you can not find it strong enough.
[Edit] Since I bought a head lamp, GH50L Laney, and I realize that a lot Valvestate bridled this microphone. Clearly it keeps slamming the typical tele twang with a bit more bass and potatoes may be, it is standard in distortion, big sound when you push the gain substance or its more rock on distos wiser, but still a heck of a potato and the famous twang. Really, one is in the spirit tele, but with what it takes to the (large) distos.

Courtesy of a friend of mine. He received spam for insurance against Dengue Fever. But 50000 Rupees is about $915 American dollars so he sees no reason to insure his laborers when one of their organs is worth many times that. Laborers? Well, he received this as spam in the past (I hope I have not poasted this one before):
Anyone need any... Gulags? Best price you can afford.
