Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
My test of an idea was always "do I remember it the next day", whether a guitar riff or a lyric idea or... And it occurs to me frequently, especially when reading, that I've forgotten so many great ideas because I never wrote them down. I'm not above boosting a line from a book, nor would I be the first, but I've never actually done it because I have an awful short-term memory. My long-term memory is probably responsible for my anhedonia and depression, as well as remembering all sorts of awesome shit and useless facts. Short-term? Forget it. Though there's a few lines from Abraham Lincoln when I was on my Civil War kick, or out of Moby Dick I could totally co-opt into something...

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Even as a non-meatatarian, I was not my whole life, so I can speak with some authority on the subject: that's pretty much how they should be. Anything else on there detracts from it. Tomato makes no sense here (ketchup); lettuce is a waste of your time and mine. It does not belong on sammiches. And iceberg lettuce is crunchy water anyhow. Pickles, while delicious, belong on the side. It is not a steak, so no onions. (While also delicious) I will make allowances for other sauces. (Barbeque, various hot sauces, etc.) It's a burger. It is meat or equivalent, sauce and bread. Adding cheese makes it a cheeseburger. Adding other things makes it a completely different sammich.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Plain and simple is definitely the way to go here. But I generally like plain food, would totally go without ever eating anything again if allowed the opportunity, I'd never fucking look back. So basically, everything I eat is in light of that. I don't particularly love any sort of food at all no matter how delicious, but if you can make this inconvenient and shitty dilemna that is the need for caloric fuel slightly more enjoyable, I'm in.

Cannot relate to this. My day is divided into its sections by its meals... something is wrong if I don't get my eats. Extra virgin olive oil, I put that shit on everything!

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
404 PAGE NOT FOUND. I do like "chewbacchus", though. Currently, having acquired a new phnoe (my old phnoe being broken), I have set to the tedious task of copying over chunks of my music collection. On the plus side, Micro SD card- decent storage mp3 player for cheap. The card cost more than the phone. The downside? I'm thinkin' this is a USB 1 connection...

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
After a long, unpleasant day spent cleaning I finally gotta check if the US1800 is working with my other computer, the one I have used many times with success. It is NOT working and is doing the same fucking thing, so either my USB cord or interface are fucked up, hoping it's just the cord obviously.. Kind of a relief though that it's not the computer.

You ever just google 'maplifiers'? The result is somewhat... Archaeological.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I have, indeed. Though, I only just now noticed the SMNforums thing Thinkpad did up hella long ago. Funny stuff. Sitting here writing/finalizing lyrics and tweaking the arrangements on my schtuff. Man, I have managed to create some pretty tormented, self deprecating grind.. I am fucking stoked to record this shit.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Dude, I might have you add lead-y parts then..! A lot of it is simple-ish odd time rhythm stuff, could use some weird, Geoff-ish fusion-y weirdness. EDIT: AH, and I only just thought about it, you could record "baritone" guitar tracks for emphasis on particularly angry bits of the metal songs. Well, I think my interface is fucked or something, just went out and bought a new USB cord and shit is still not working. Only logical conclusion I have come to is that whatever's going on is happening in the interface, whatever it may be.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Nope, took an SM58 and a cord I knew would work and got the same bullshit as I do with the new laptop, no output with random spikes of massive clipping. I dunno what the fuck happened, I am trying to think if anything jarring or br00tz happened to the interface and I can't think of a damn thing. The USB lights up like everything's cool, OL lights show that it's getting normal signal into the preamps. I am thinking that something is going awry after that somewhere in there..

Hmm. It's fair to say then that the gods have sodomized your interface. What kind of warranty is on that sucker, anyhow? 'Cause I suppose it's time to contact Tascam.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I fired off an inquiry about warranty coverage and the possible reasoning for the damage. Shit is just super bummin' me out, I might have to break out my Line 6 Gearport just so I can record the stuff where I was only using one or two mics.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
At least you have something kicking around. And you still have a snazzy mic pre, too, and a good amount o' mics to go with it.
Suxx though, as the Tascam has a lot of channels in.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I can record all the weird overdubs for the inebriated Beach Boys thing and make good use of those preamps for demonstration purposes as well. I will be having a melodica on some shiz for sure, and I am looking for someone who can play horn or fretless string instruments. And really, any other odd thing I might think serves the purpose of the song well.
Lately, I have been using the M179 a lot fuckering with the pickup patterns for this sort of broken up tracked percussion/multitrack vocals, shit's brilliant. I am excited to work with a horn or string instrument, lots of fun stuff to play with there.
But temporarily (not sure for how long I will let sanely be able to let this happen..!) I cannot record our live guitar+drum bits. I have a song that's already got drums and whatnot done that I will finish up as soon as possible to keep the beast within at bay, but I am stoked to record the notfullbandbutfullbandsound that these other songs I have. The simplified powerviolence/Botch riffs are going to be particularly fun, it'll be a good test as to see what I can and can't do with my voice.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Having all those pickup patterns comes in handy, doesn't it? Melodica? Awesome. Horns, strings, Beach Boys, grindcore... I appreciate the sheer scope of your fucked-up ideas. I just finally got done comping all the (new, final version) bass tracks for me solo rekkid. I've really been dragging my ass on that, putting it off for other projects and myriad reasons. Mostly because editing is tedious and boring, even when the playing is actually good. On the plus side, there's some really snazzy sexytime bassing (I think) on all the tracks that have live bass guitar on them. There's some impetus to get this done given the plan to turn it into a real, gigging band in the near future. Having a drummer signed on to the project who's at least aware of the tunes and has, in fact, played some of them gives it an air of legitimacy, sorta like "democratic elections" . Not that I'm the Billy Corgan type so much; I don't want to be the dickhead who says "this is my band, learn these songs" when there's no one else in the band. This is half my drummer's idea anyhow- "you make a good frontman" - "I have songs" - "I know you do!", etc. from there. And we get on well together, as people and especially as songwriters. He really has an ear for arrangements and hearing what doesn't work. It's a shame there's no way in hell I am bassing live here (are you shitting me? I gotta sing over this!) 'cause we'd make an excellent rhythm section. I suppose it's too much to ask for a funk monster ladybassist who can sing damnfine backups.
