Try to avoid that next time- that's amateur hour stuff. Sit down if you must. As a former professional drunkard who has no qualms about public restrooms for either porpoise but has taken soap and water to the seat as necessary. The slippers, though, I have no qualms with.

Re: the boots, I'd have to see the boots. As an investment simply on a practical level, I can say nicer stuff tends to be much better made and will last you longer, even with heavy use. I walk a lot- even when I had a car I walked a lot- so quality footwear is worth it to me.

Learned the Leper Affinity solo. Feels good man. But my fingers are so fucking weak.

 Akerfeldt is a fine soloist, and IMO one of the genre's- though one can hardly call them DM at this point, but still- most tasteful players, if not the most. That mid-period thing of which BWP is the center point (or high point, if you're not into what they were on about later so much- but the soloing is still mightyfine beyond there) seems to be agreed-upon pure distilled class. The brilliance of that stuff is all in the writing and the arrangements. It's not unplayable shred by any means. It just... Isn't written like rawk music. It reads* more like a classical or jazz thing. These are pieces more than songs.

*-Not the best word, but you know what I'm getting at.

As long as the design of the tooling works for you, I say go for it. Works with whatever trousers within reason, could go in a few directions there and not seem out of place. Seems like a good general-porpoise footthing.

Yeap, Akerfeldt is super tasty. He has a wonderful vibrato and phrasing, and his playing has never seemed 'methodical' (ie wandering up and down scales, stock licks, etc)

Lindgren was never as good. His solos always sounded kind of simple and deadpan and often used recycled licks. But I think it did contribute to what was Opeth's sound back then.

I had a friend who said the two of them sounded alike. He doesn't know shit from fuck.

Yeah, they don't sound at all alike. Nor does the new guy- he's, if anything, even more instantly identifiable in contrast. I always sorta figured Lindgren for the wash-of-effects guy, something they haven't really done so much since, having replaced the spacey guitar bits with synths.

Akerfeldt is a good lead player, period, even outside the context of that band. Like you said- phrasing, vibrato, note choices. I've always liked him as a player in general; his chord choices are cool. One of my two biggest infuences as an acoustic player- the other being Ani Difranco. Neither are orthodox.

I have a bunch I haven't posted either, or, at least, not in a long long time. I think everything on what's tentatively the first Modesty Panel record has been posted in some form or another somewhere over the years, but there's at least one that hasn't been poasted since the HCAF days.

It appears that I am first person to ever use the line "I'd like to check you for lumps" in a song, or so Google turns up.

Ohfuckyeah. This grind stuff is all class act writing material, fo sho. It is really kind of a really funny/easy style for me to write in. It is total Pig Destroyer selfdeprecationcore. Ever since I started reading PD lyrics, I've been obsessed with them. I didn't know a ton about the band besides some of their music I had heard being played by other people, and recently I've been getting into them and checking out the lyrics, of course. Had no idea they'd be like that or how much similarities I see in my own writing. They don't go up the wall with metaphors and all that shit, there are lots of them but it is a kind of metaphor I really like. Doesn't stray super far from the narrative trying to be abstract and shit. Plus, the shit is so OTT it is silly, so you can kinda feel free to write whatever you want because there's a slight tongue in cheek aspect to almost all of it.

These are lyrics to Pig Destroyer's Starbelly:

Dear everything.
Today I witnessed a crucifixion in pink and lavender and gold.
I've heard people say that beauty is in details,
But I don't think they have ever seen you.
There were mortal wounds inflicted on the sky
And incrminating blue stains on my shirt.
The shirt you bought for me.
Christ it hurts.
Like stars in my belly going supernova.
I feel like a zombie that refuses to live.
Haunting the junkyards and cutting myself on scraps of you.
The other day I masturbated to pictures of you at your birthday party.
They were the only ones I still had.
It felt so wrong, just like my life.
I hope I'm dead by the time you read this. I love you.

Flying to Brazil is not like flying other places. Other places care about order, efficiency and how to form a line. Boarding call was a stampede.

Hope you and Barb have a dopez vacation, breh. :huzzah: Are you guys still free in February?

My voice is fucking shot. :red: I was like, "Man, my voice is done." ...And then I continued to record a bunch of yelling vocals.
