Currently listening to this band. I love the fuzzy, filthy bass guitar.



What fuzz/distortion pedal would give me that bass sound? Iseriously want to get a bass now just so I can have such a dirty sound I have a keeley modded Rat 2.

So many options on that front. I can't actually listen to that song at work right now, but I am sure Chris can play "Guess that fuzz tone!" like a muthafug.

Pretty sweet hardcore/grind.

Bass Fuzz is funny. Lots of things work. Sometimes you can even get a good fuzz sound from a tube screamer, which makes no sense, but even still, it can work.

Also, the Big Muff, Bass Muff, Boss DS1, Superfuzz, etc, etc... You can actually get away with lots of things, probably largely because the human ear is somewhat less finely tuned to hear much minute difference in those low registers. Unlike the midrange that the guitar lives in, where really slight differences in clipping and whatnot are made really obvious, with a fuzz bass, almost anything goes. Just experiment with whatever is on hand until you get something you like.

Anyhoo, onto this now:

I can see the appeal, awesome synth/mellotron sounds.
Lots of experimentation and stuff for that sort of music.
And Andre is a boss vocalist.

Outkast whips all sorts of ass.

Yeah, all of that. He, in particular has written some pretty awesome tunes, also. I mean, for the untold millions of times it has been played/played out, Hey Ya, is a fucking fantastic song. It is simple, but not too simple, it moves quickly, it is catchy as all fuck, and it is just generally cool-sounding.

It probably helps somewhat that i basically ignored the band and record for like six years, and then went back for a fresh assessment, long after its moment had passed, and it wasn't being crammed in my face all the time any more.

But yeah, some good stuff on there.

Wave 104.1 played Love Hurts so I turned it off.

Yup, Hey Ya was something on the radio that I actually ENJOYED hearing on the radio back when Speakerboxxx/The Love Below came out.

I like Stankonia best, personally.
