AFAIK there's no connection between the words "beanie" and "beaner"; the former is just a cold-weather knit cap and has no linguistic relation to a rude term for a Hispanic person. A toque, though, that's proper Canadian, with the earflaps and all. Washington and Alaska, now, those are sort of like Canada. For that matter, so is Buffalo; it's what, two miles from my house if that? The most direct route would involve swimming across the border, which would really suck this time of year. The bridge is significantly farther.

Doing the math with a map, Canada is a little over a mile to my left. Add a few hundred feet for the water.

So, my housemate fell asleep with some pizza sitting out. Good person that I am, I wrapped it up in foil, put it in the fridge and took care of the dishes. During this activity I was singing the Indiana Jones theme to myself for no apparent reason.

I do this a lot, sing really random things just because. I assume it's 'cause I'm slightly mad. Many of the ones with words are blasphemous, obscene or otherwise just generally very crass, usually in the style of old-school country music, but occasionally sea chanties or death metal. I think this is funny. Occasionally I lift melodies from things like film scores or classical music, but AC/DC, The Stones, Metallica and Sepultura have been known to turn up too.

Do that all the time, myself.

I usually get mid 90's pop classics stuck in my head. Also bond themes.

It looks like my occasional metal thing has become a real gig, as my friend found a singer (whom he's known for years) and a drummer. Both of whom are very good and we all seem to get on. It's really gelling quite well. If it keeps up, I'll have three projects with records out this year. When you think about it, not bad.

Also, my solo whatnots are going to have the guitars and bass reamped at the realstudio Garda frequents. If the metal thing works out, that noise will be made there too. I'll have a proper discography.

Yay, a Shoveling Day!

Lovely. We didn't take it that hard around these parts. Driving was pretty crappy, but that's some accumulation you've accumulated there.

Spent all last night kickin' it with teh Dewysoss. Saw his silly melodic deathcore band and toked, was righteous.

Carnaval party Brazilian style in Raleigh. I'm drunk and sambaing ... sambing ... dancing.

It's a little before 9 AM and when I'm done with it, breakfast is gonna be vegan chili with spicy rice. That certain foodstuffs belong to certain times of day is silly. I'll do whatever I want, thank you very much.

Also, I am less-than-brilliant as I left my keys in the front door and they had been there since yesterday afternoon.

I'd hate to know the number of times I have done that.

Ms. Jen and I got home from looking at Random House Things circa what, 3:30-4 yesterday? Obviously neither of us had left the house since. I had a sign on my bedroom door reading KEYS WALLET PHONE (bus fare) for a good long while and I suppose I need a new one. I have a rather fine long-term memory that is frankly torturous at times but my short-term memory is basically non-existent.

Yeah my short-term is a wreck. The wife is starting to figure out if she wants to tell me to do something, she needs to write it down and put the note near the door. If she just tells me to do something, it is a crap-shoot over whether or not I will remember. Though she isn't the best either. It is a rare occasion that we leave the apartment to go somewhere without having to go back to get something we forgot.

I leave the house with so much shit in my pockets that it serves as sort of a physical reminder. If i try to leave the house with one empty pocket, i just know that something isn't right.

It is like the crazy person version of a short term memory substitute.

I experience sort of the opposite effect- there's so much in whatever laptop bag/man-purse I am carrying I can't possibly remember it all. Keys/wallet/phone (bus fare, if applicable) is just the beginning in my pockets for short journeys. My going-out-to-events accoutrements add other things into pockets of coats (or, if it's nice out, vests) and the just-going-out-all-day equipment is frankly, a bit much and the only reason it can be crammed into small things about ones' person is because it's a ton of small things. The additional bits give evidence to the psychological character of their possessor.
