Well some tweakery got the stepper to haul its load smoothly. More voltage, less current, great success.

The second thing.

I am purposefully trying to (amateurishly and not correctly) use a sort of Agile development pattern where I design, prototype and implement features one at a time. So I start with setting up a 2D environment. Then the first feature I implemented was creating a sprite, then moving that sprite, then creating another enemy sprite, then having it track and follow the player, then creating another projectile sprite, then have the player spawn a projectile, then have the projectile calculate and execute its trajectory, then giving the player health, then giving the enemy health, then giving both collision detection, then having the player lose health on collision with the enemy and the enemy on collision with a projectile, then have both die if their health hits zero etc. etc. etc.

So I get to prototype features quickly, but because I suck at it I have to do a lot of refactoring. I actually have an actual design pattern for things now. I give my game objects an Entity component, that contains references to a whole bunch of other components that the Entity needs to function. So think of it this way:

Game Object = A Unity Game Object that exists in the game world
Component = A particular function that is attached to a Game Object
Entity = Code that functions as a hub between the Game Object and all its Components

So the Game Object has an Entity script attached to it. That Entity script enacts all the logic written in the components onto the Game Object. The Game Object is, the Entity is how and the Components are why.

Take the Player Entity for example. Here is a class diagram of the Player Entity and all its components.

Components are named C[component name], Interfaces (hard to explain quickly, but basically a basic pattern for code that you can use as a template) are I[interface name], Enumerables (a list of types) are E[enumerable name] and specific scripts are just named as what they are:

You lost me at the whole concept of coding stuff. Truly, I cannot wrap my brain around it- it just doesn't work that way. :wall:

My question to the producer of Superunknown, Michael Beinhorn (who worked with Marilyn Manson, etc. as well): http://www.gearslutz.com/board/8776050-post43.html

And his response: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/8776132-post44.html

Pretty awesome to get a real response from the guy in charge.

I suppose it might not be a Tele on Mailman after all, but a Jazzmaster if Mr. Cornell did most of the rhythms. It certainly sounds like a Tele to me, and that's what they use live, but I've never played a Jazzmaster, so...

The JM bridge pickup is pretty bright.

The oddball Fenders intrigue me. I've always wanted one of these for some reason, too:

Band noose: so, The New Band (do we keep The Modesty Panel?) seems to have signed on a local show promoter (one of the good guys- he's younger and does it 'cause he loves music, not for the money) for live keys. :nods: One of my drummer's friends from work was in a successful metalcore?- they looked like emo kids but played heavy stuff- band you may have heard of (I'm not naming names) a few years back, they had issues with the label and are defunct. He does electronic music for fun. We are pitching the other guitar slot at this guy next time he gets the chance. So that's going well. I've enlisted a friend from a decently successful industrial band as producer for the vocal sessions.

Garda got offered to open for Hanzel und Gretyl. Sardocasm might know who they are. Despite the German, they are from NYC, are a national touring act and have been around for years. We'll see if the guys actually take off work to open for a national at what I am assuming from the details will be a decent sized venue.

We're quite honest about the reasoning behind having another band- half of us can play all the damn time, half of us can't. So the live band becomes the studio act and the studio act becomes the live band. Shrug. :idk: Both seem to be winning in the end, and it keeps me out of the bars, as it were.

Holy and fucked shit. Looks like my high school slamcore band is gonna actually maybe be a functional machine (a Godless Killing Machine, at that :red:) again in the very near future. Drummer's finally got his head on straight and is without a girlfriend is hitting up his E-kit at college. Considering how much better I have got at vocals and how much more mature both Kaleb and Ian are in terms of their taste in DM...

MAN, I AM PRETTY FUCKING STOKED.

You knowz it, homeboy. :huzzah: Dat Global Slamnation tour.

I am pretty enthusiastic, because this time around we have all agreed on a concept I pushed hard when we were younger but the other two didn't really bite on: Average song lengths of 1:45. With how anal Kaleb is about song structure/flow and hesistancy to repeat riffs this should really help streamline the songwriting process.

Yeah that's a good length. Slams can get really mind numbing at longer song lengths

I agree, it gets pretty easy to lose momentum with that sort of thing if every riff isn't spot-on and it isn't constantly going somewhere. I love Devourment but I feel like a lot of those songs begin to fall off 2 or 3 minutes in. Five and a half minutes of 4/4 slams and old school trem riffs can get a little diluted, is all.

This I am sharing simply because it is a fantastic picture:

Gigged Friday, Other guitarist had a pitcher of water dumped on his pedalboard. It fried. beginning of set. He packed up and went home. :hypno:

I did the rest of the show by myself as guitar/keys. Not easy when we have so much going on.

I was not happy.

That, in the parlance of the Youth Of Today: "sucks balls". :poop:

I don't think any parties involved would be pleased by that occurrence. I'd go so far as to say the phrase would be "hella pissed". He didn't have any sort of backup, though? I've never been happy with having to use it, but I always have something, even if it's just a Pod in my laptop bag.
