In other news, it is sort of weird trying to record solo vocal tracks of your voice for mic testing purpose when you really sort of hate the sound of your voice besides when it does a few specific things.

Oi, this is perfect fodder for metaldudes to argue over 'til the end of time. The "the original mixes are better" camp will obviously be the hip one to be in, because that's how things like this roll.

Now, I do have to wonder if there were some conflicts over the sonics of the project and someone somewhere wanted things more modern sounding, perhaps? Of course it's equally as likely he really is just burnt out working on the thing and got his bro to take over. They do know each other.

Laney GH50L. Couldn't get it loud enough really so it sounds a bit ratty. The bass is the Ampeg plugin for maplitube 3.

Wat mikrofone/cab do you use?

Ta very much It's a Tube Town "british" 2x12 that I loaded with G12H30 speakers, and my trusty SM57. Still want to try a V30 in the cab (might remove some of the grainy-ness that I think may be speaker breakup) but can't find any for a decent price.

The Maiden tribute thing's still a maybe, but I'm now (almost) definitely doing a one-off show on Halloween as vocalist in a Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath tribute.

Them is some slick riffs, Tom. Kinda makes me want to pretend I am Keith Buckley over the top of them.

That would actually be awesome, I would be up for an innernets collaboration if you fancy it when you're not so busy with your own stuff. The whole thing would of course need to be started again fresh with better drums and such.
