I bought a ps3 camera for some motion tracking experimentations, and within about 15 minutes of it arriving via mail, after making sure it functioned correctly, i disassembled it and destroyed the lens, on purpose, for science.

Oh, by the by, speaking of Acquiring Things, my other guitarist in Garda bought an Avid Eleven Rack. I've heard it now in person. It sounds pretty good. He is actually willing to use that plus the G-Major 2 (for wonky effects, as the 11R is a bit stripped-down. Basic, functional stuff; solid, but not nuts) as his live rig. This is the guy with the Diezel, etc. That says something. I only played through it briefly; the bass riff from Fascination Street to see if it was any good for bass or not. (Answer: yes.)

My right foot is a little loose from not being on my drum game recently, but I have been working on those quick snare rim rhythms a lot so my hands are quickish with the blasts and whatnot, but it is pretty sloppy.

Pretty innersting beats in the early bits. I myself have never really found a way that i could get along with the hitting-the-rim-on-purpose thing.

As an aside, it also occurs to me that once i fix my new camera, i should record myself playing drums, just so i have some idea as to what the hell it looks like when i play drums, which somehow, after this long, i still don't know.

Looking into getting a Masters in ... Computer Science with a focus on Game Development.

There is a post-baccalaureate certification program for CSC at NC State, which would A) Give me something to put on my resume to help look for entry-level jobs at tech companies and B) Finish up most/all of the prerequisites I would need to apply to the NC State CSC Graduate program.


Soooo much better than looking into another Bachelors or an Associates degree. Plus I wanted to get my PhD at some point, so this brings me one step closer. Just an idea right now but the more I look into it the more it seems like not a terrible idea.

Man, what a terrible fucking hangover to get stuck with all day.

After the bars closed at around 5ish I somehow found my way back to the port authority bus terminal. All the doors were locked and I slept for a good 2 hours surrounded by homeless people. Took a bus straight to work at 8am, still drunk. Threw up at work and went home at around 4.

Was totally worth it though considering the night was awesome.

Getting ready to go back into work for another exciting 12 hour shift of Coral sound Did 13 hours yesterday and was losing the will to live. Luckily I shall be bringing my laptop this time as I found a power extension lead.

I went to the guitar show earlier with my friend I metalbass for. I got a DBX 163X for thirty bucks. It is now in my rack. I ran into my producer/engineer acquaintance who Garda works with and he has a pair; is rather fond of them on bass. My reading has told me the same thing- a cool, kinda dirty aggressive compressor, so I was like fuckit, why not?

I have been so damn busy the past three days; we did a session for the metal band, etc. I've barely slept. I have emails to respond to that I haven't. Sigh. I am not used to being so active anymore.

Got up properly to go to work, then got an email that i don't need to go in today. Which i guess is fine. I mean, having more daylight hours available to be conscious in is how Normal People Get Shit Done, isn't it?

Where are you working chris? I feel like I missed you mentioning a workplace being involved in the routine.

I have been doing a pretty gloriously factory-style work for a place that does fulfillment for among other things, a large national coffee/donut chain. Basically, it is like low key assembly line sorts of work to put together training manuals and marketing guidelines so that store managers know how to decorate their wares and stores seasonally, and how to program their ovens and things to allow for new products and whatnot. Every month, a whole shit pile of printed materiel comes in and is arranged, packaged, and sent back out before a in-stores deadline.

It is generally dull "zone-out" sorts of work, that i find weirdly in-tune with my own crazy anti-commercial nature. They pay me okay money, and it is okay, because there is a very set sort of responsibility expectation that comes with it. I don't have to manage teenagers, and the only real responsibility that i have to accept for my low pay and occasionally last-minute scheduling is that i need not to fuck things up(rather than also having it be my problem if someone else might screw up(which is a trade off that many folks in working arrangements tend to simply accept for a twenty cent raise without even necessarily realizing it in the moment(i did say i was crazy and anti-commercial, right?))).

And i do have a certain solid flexibility in scheduling that comes from well, being a temp employee. I have been working whatever hours they have, just so i can help plug some money holes in this house, but in theory, i could also work less. More than likely though, because of the highly efficient manner in which i am wired for ditch-digging/pyramid construction, i may very well be working more instead, as things continue to move along there. Employers are generally looking out for good diggers, you know.
