wow 6660 posts on 333 pages. For such a small bunch, we are talkative to each other. We all seem to go missing for a few days then end up posting here, still love having this outlet.

:isay:

There's a lot of common interest (that varies quite wildly) among this crowd, and I think that makes all the difference.

Keep it up, it definitely works :tu: the only time I find it annoying is when I don't have much spare time to cook from scratch so I eat boring stuff like pre cooked chicken (although I must say, tesco roast chicken thighs are damn good). However the rest of the meals I cook are awesome, just had a mushroom, cheese and chorizo omelette which was the shit :) Any diet where you can eat a steak topped with cheese and bacon and still lose weight is fine by me. I'm noticing more changes, my manboobs are almost gone! Been on keto since feb and I'm starting to rein in my carb-ups to less than 24hrs to help shift the last bits. If you work out at all then carb ups help a lot. I'm doing 5x5 and the friday workouts are a killer with no carbs left in you.

Oh and when you've started substituting milk for cream you won't want to go back, especially in coffee

I think tracking vocals upon vocals is easy when the original vocal is in your monitor. Just follow along...

Yeah, but where they are like, TIGHT AS FUCK. For example, Beach Boys and Animal Collective overdubs sound perfect in timing, pitch and timbre: like one person singing with the most haunting voice in the world. It is fantastic.

As someone who tends to track a lot of vocal tracks... Concurred. Granted I am often singing multi-part harmonies, but still... It's never just one track. Every part is generally doubled or tripled.

Maybe, I am just retarded/always too high when I record. :idk: When I multi-track stuff, it never sounds like one perfect voice.

It took me a good long time to develop that particular useless skill.

I may not be able to function in society, but dammit, I can layer up vocals like a boss. :huzzah:

I think sometimes they're too good, too close to each other, that you don't get the effect. The double should be... Almost obvious. You should be listening for it to hear it, but it should be audible.

One trick i have found useful is, as Geoff says, to record with the original in the monitors.

Meaning, ONLY the original track. Mute all overdubs as you go. Timing/emphasis will naturally differ between them, and you will react to nuance differences as you go if you listen back to the previously recoarded overdubs, and over a bunch of overdubs, the differences can/will add up quite a bit. To keep it tight as possible, only ever listen to the original track while recording others.

That is just one thing i have found to be helpful, anyhow. :idk:

Got a 'murican Bigsby b7 on the yamaha, and a custom cut bone nut on the mockingbird, slightly raised action and slotted for 11's. :D

It works. Check out http://www.reddit.com/r/keto for good infos. I'm currently off it as while its great for fat loss its not so hot for muscle gain so I'm rocking about 35-40% carbs in a weights based routine with HIIT thrown in every other day which is working out for me quite nicely so far.

In other news I just saw what I hope will be my new house. My bedroom has its own patio and I have my own workshop/tinkerspace again :D

New keto discovery, almond butter. Half the carbs of peanut buttah and tastes pretty similar, a bit nicer if anything. And no shitty palm oil, just delicious blended almonds and sea salt

I would really like to take voice lessons here in the near future, I think. I have a problem with falling flat all the time singing things lower in my range, especially when coming from somewhere higher. I mean, I have some pitch problems no matter what that I'd like to take care of, but that is most problematic.

Pitch problems will go away the more you do it, aslo.

Mainly, the most important thing, is that you can actually hear when you are having pitch problems. Lots of folks cannot.

Otherwise, i personally found it to be something that lessened drastically, just by me using my voice a lot and pushing it into spots that it had trouble. Eventually, it began to have less trouble in those spots. Kind of a muscle thing i guess.

I figure as much, as my voice has continued to improve since I first began, it's just that there's still a bunch of kinks I would like to work out. I am comfortable singing in a few spots but I definitely fairly shaky in the outer areas of my range besides my falsetto, which is pretty strong for whatever reason.

What Chris said; all of it. I've heard some truly cringeworthy shit over the years from people who must have been able to hear themselves and just had no idea how off they were. As a very basic pitch excercise, try singing a scale along with a guitar or keyboard as pitch reference. Pick a key you're comfortable in and just sing the major or minor scale while playing along.

Re: transitioning between vocal registers, that can be a tough one. Outside of proper vocal excercise-y things, finding songs that hang out in the awkward transitional areas and singing the hell out of those can help. I'm fairly comfortable now making really large jumps in the middle of a line for effect into upper or lower octaves. Find where the transition points are in your range and abuse them until it sounds right.

So the mayor of our city has a pretty hilarious reputation but this takes the cake: a video has surfaced of him smoking crack with gangsters!
