So, my roommate is out of town. For a month and a half. So I brought some recording gear home...

I don't know how loud I can get fer the vocal tracking though 'cause I don't know what their work schedules are. He works nights. But he's a cop and they have fucked-up schedules where there on/off for x number of days as they work long shifts.

The screamy stuff, I may have to do elsewhere. But all the quiet and not-as-loud stuff is easy here, 'cause there aren't random metal bands firing up their shit at random times and I don't have to take the bus to my living room. And it's a good sounding room. I've been singing almost everything way, way louder as of late though, to add some edge.

I am curious to try out the DBX 163X on vocals. But I need insert cables for that. They are in my parents' basement, where they've been for lord knows how long. Eh, I have to help my dad put in a door anyhow. I'll grab 'em then.

I've only played one myself for the first time recently. It was pretty cool, if awkward due to the neck shape. I'd love to have one, if I could find one with moderate output passive pickups and a neck profile that I got along with. Somehow lower tunings are seeming appealing to me these days. For things that are totally not metal.

Nah, but I've a couple buddies with them, either would probably be up to the task. Dude who drums on my stuff would be killer for that sort of style. Ever since I saw a Christian metalcore band cover Bulls On Parade a few years ago the idea's been kicking in the back of my head.

Looking through embarrassingly old posts in this forum, I feel like I am slightly less retarded/insensitive than I used to be. This is a good thing. It is odd how one begins to decipher the differences between what is "edgy" for lack of a less shitass word and what is just plain stupid and ignorant sounding. I still cuss like I have tourettes but it is maybe a little less unintelligent sounding now.

Ah, and: I am done smoking marijuana for a little bit I came to the conclusion a few hours ago. For various reasons. Definitely need some good books and whatnot to keep my brain busy/stimulated. Gonna be interesting.

Well, I'm certainly less inebriated than I used to be, if that's any consolation.

I am sorta hating life at the moment. My bassist... I don't want to say quit, but the option's on the table. I threw out the idea of hiring someone for shows. He has a lot a lot going on that's not my business to discuss; suffice to say he really doesn't have the time to be in a band, and he feels it's unfair that he would hold us back. Of course he needs to be in a band and write songs to have any sort of emotional fulfillment in his frustrating life. He has that option, which he had not thought of, and wants to think about it. But he walked in today with the full intent of leaving, knowing also he could be talked out of it.

I don't know what happens after this; my drummer and I have zero income; me quite literally; I cannot afford the space anymore without hocking more of my gear, especially if he leaves. We can hang on for a month or so; he said he'd do a couple shows in June and that it would be unfair of him to cancel on those.

My drummer and I are irked; we wanted to use the space for Our Thing to offset the costs; we had asked permission with explicit terms re: use of said and it was granted, but that got revoked. So My Stuff, Live, is not a reality at the moment. Session work is okay, but not another band in there, no.

And I lost my Lava cables. Like, I fucking lost them. I took them home on Saturday and they are nowhere to be found. I think they fell out of my bag somewhere, as the zipper is broken.

Could I have a better day? At least I have a killer drummer whatever happens. Ballsdammit. Suffice to say this was not a high point in my life.

Very humorous to me that my ADHD or whathaveyou thought process manifests in rushing the balls out of most tempos. I am definitely trying to get myself to land a little further back on the beat.

I wasn't planning on writing a classical piano piece. It just kinda happened. I have a good start to it though, just improvising stuff. It's a little incoherent (and, short) at the moment. We'll see what this turns into.

Making annoying little games out of trying to get better at maintaining pitch, I feel sorry for pretty much anyone within earshot.

This computer/camera setup will not do the trick.

It IS amusing to watch the video fall out of sync with the sound over time though.

A-motherfucking-ha! Ya know, I can find practicing guitar purely for the sake of improving my physical skills pretty discouraging due to less than satisfactory results (which is half because I have retard fingers, half because I have no patience) but I'll be damned if I don't already feel a decent bit more confident singing after just a couple of days trying my best to blast notes through my head just riiiight on top of the pitch. My ability to jump around accurately is getting a little better.

To myself: I'm a fucking moron as I left my phone on a table saw and realized right after I got home where I'd set it down. At least it's at my parents' house- I was helping my dad work on the house all day- and I emailed him to let him know it's there. I can't exactly, er, walk there and pick it up though. Well, I suppose I could but I'd probably need to stop and make camp at some point.
