d00d from my band essentially echoed my statements. Scrounge up as much as you can and comb for an old synth; if it is complete hobo-budget, find something that hopefully won't break. The price and the 61 keys limits yer options by a bit.

Yarr, i don't think i will go synthlike. From my experience of the microkorg, i determined that i actually had more fun making fucked up noises with a GM portatone out the headphone jack and into a bunch of pedals than with something that was actually designed to make fucked up noises.

I may build some oscillators and perhaps a sequencer at some point though. That is more the type of synththings that i would be on about.

Now i think that what i would really like is just a simple thing with a bunch of keys that can make some sort of noise without a computer, but that i could also use in a rudimentary way as a MIDI input device for some VST sorts of biz on occasion.

I would rock a Casiotone even, provided it had a MIDI out. Prolly i will aim to acquire what has worked for my ghetto techniques in the past though: entry level Yamaha style.

After about an hour of messing with my newest one, i think i can safely say that back in the day when most construction was done by doods with axes, you would not have ever wanted to arm wrestle a carpenter.

If i keep doing it this way, my arms and shoulders are going to either fall off or become immortal.

The Ampeg, has already been here before, seems to be a bit of a basketcase, though i haven't even looked at it to see what might be ill with it this time around.

The JCM, just got here today, gonna crack it open and see what its fuss is. Its a slightly odd'n for an 800, a 2210. Two channels and reverb. I haven't tried it but the word on the street is that this one doesn't go at all anymore.

If you can get the 2210 working, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. The channel switchers, I haven't spent enough time with- not recently at any rate- to evaluate, though for some reason I wanted a 2205 back in the day. I knew a guy who had one, among other things; used to be in a band with him. I did not like his tone much, but I didn't like his tone through anything, really, so I don't blame the amp.

If I had an 800 and an Ampeg kicking about, I'd be pretty pleased. If they worked. Lettuce gnow how it turns out. The axes might not be the right tools for these jobs though.

I am a terrible judge of what is good though. I absolutely loved the JCM900 that another friend had for years. Really enjoyed it.

I would agree with that assessment. Definitely a good bit more gain there. There's a diode clipping stage which IIRC doesn't kick in until yer most of the way up. If you like the 900 Dual Reverbs, you should like the 2205/2210. I never got to directly compare the 2204 and 2205, which is a shame; I'd like to know the exact differences in voicing.

Your thoughts would be appreciated if you can get that muffhugger working. They don't turn up much and I haven't jammed on one of the channel switchers in years and years, and not enough to really remember what I thought of it in my hands.

I have received the one axe head, ordered another, and also just now a couple of handles that should fit the pair. Both are single bevel and pretty much the same size/shape, so i think i am going to clean them up and hang one left- and one right-handed, in the proper fashion for such things.

Currently on the prowl for a much bigger broadaxe at the right price. Prolly 11" or 12" wide anyhow.

And also a minimum 2" wide timber slick, though ideally 3+". I am prepared to wait on that both though, as my need is not immediate, and the pricing in general for these sorts of things is a bit (i suppose understandably) steeper.

Tried to take the easy way out by buying manufactured broad axe/hatchet handles for bofe, but alas, they are a fair bit too small for what i have got here.

And so i will have to do what i originally thought i would have to do, and locate a proper enough section of wood from which to make two handles from.

Really, i might be able to use one of the handles on the smaller of the two, depending on how it fits once i start shaping the end, but the bigger one is going to need something more like a full axe-size handle.

Are you going to use one of your axes to make the handle for one of your other axes?

This is actually just kind of a temp handle to experiment with a couple things to see if i like them.

I will need a better piece of wood to do a proper handle. Still, because of the way this type of axe gets used, a weaker handle is actually almost something you can get away with, so i will probably use it this way for a little bit anyhow.

Also sharpened this one up, and my initial impressions are: that it is pretty awesome.

I have been intending to get into burrmakin' upon my return. My culinarybadass homeboy and I have got some pretty interesting. First and foremost though, we want to brew some sorta vanilla flavored porter or stout.

I can see me getting into this. I'm going to pick up a few demijohns to make some bespoke rocketfuel booze in. I've been reading that tinned jam is good for this as it has an insane high fruit sugar content and it's usually without preservatives/additives that can fuck with your fermentation. By using a primed yeast solution you can punch up to near 20% ABV

Booze is still a bubbling. I need to look into getting a thermostatic plate to optimise things
