Cars with camber like that look fucking ridiculous. Plus, they must grip like shit due to having hardly any tyre contact?

Plus they look like some cartoon dropped a piano on them. Actual performance camber is like maximum maybe 3-5º. That first one looks like what, 35º?

And you have to really enjoy replacing sump pans if you actually intend to take a car that low on any road anywhere. There are some places(speedbump'd parking lots everywhere) that the cars simply cannot even enter. :red:

Also, stretching the sidewalls of the tires like that to fit on overwide rims, is not generally a very useful thing.

It is just a lot of bad ideas that beat the shit out of otherwise decent/fun cars, so that winds up on the market are generally kind of abortiony.

Out of interest, what's performance camber? I don't really know anything about this sort of thing, just assumed "knowledge" transferred over from bikes

Looking at the car from either dead on front or dead on rear, a car with zero camber will have the tires standing vertically at 90º to the ground. A car with negative camber will have the tops of the wheels closer to each other than they are at the bottoms, like the relatively extreme examples cam poasted.

Camber in this form is designed so that when a car is flung into a corner, the transverse forces, will cause the suspension to make a flatter and wider patch of tire come into contact with the tarmac. The trade off is better cornering grip, at the expense of worse straight line(braking & accelerating) grip. Because in a straight line, the car is relatively riding on the edges of the wheels(again very obvious in the extreme examples). The transverse forces will cause the outside wheels(the ones which see the most additional weight transfer and provide most of the traction in the cornering process) to become flat to the ground, maximizing rubber contact patch and grip.

Without the camber, hard cornering will cause those outside wheels essentially to tip onto their edges as the car tries to roll over from the forces applied. So they will have less and decreasing grip in cornering, which is unrelated to the limits of adhesion that the rubber compound and tread patterns provide. Which can get messy.

Road cars generally do not have, and mostly do not require, very much negative camber at all. Really, it mostly just wears out the tires unnaturally fast and very unevenly.

On the subject of this: I should probably stop drinking the shit. Though I have not really stopped drinking since I got from Alaska, it is constantly dawning on me how bad of an idea it is for me to consume large amounts of alcohol. Smoking weed all the time is bad, but atleast it is not the dark sort of intoxication that booze brings on in me. I don't know why I even do it, maybe because beer is fucking delicious. But I know though, that I am not drinking for the taste. :red:

I would really love to to not do drugs. Though, I have not yet learned how not to.

Sup guise. Been trying my hand at making electronic music with my buddy. I'm also learning how to mix/master so this is all a learning experience as well.

Critiques? We've been using Logic 9 or 10 for this. :mexican:

It's more fun than I thought it'd be making this kinda stuff. Plus I'm learning the basics to mastering and mixing.

So I had my first drive in the MG today. It's pretty fucking shit tbh  far too slow for how camp it looks and it doesn't handle particularly nicely. Honestly my Fiesta is better in every way. Also, driving auto is terrible. Why do so many 'murricans stand for it?

That was quite nice. It never got too hard and clubby, I like that.

There was a slight change in my living arrangements. I moved in with me ladyfriend. I am, of course, okay with this. We'll have to figger out what to do with my proper 'puter and all though; I am on a band laptop at the moment; most of my stuff is in the basement for the time being. My hundreds of books, for one. So, still busy as all get out, but not, otherwise, doing too bad.

Just returned from the better part of a week touring swathes of the east coast with my visiting mother.

It was exhausting.

very tired. Between 8 hour work days + 2 hour commute, 3 bands (more like 2 since GnR never practices or plays much) gigs at least 2x per week and many have a deal of travel... I actually got about 3 hours of recording last week so that was nice, but sooo fucking tired..

Well, seeing as you're doing a G'n'R tribute, the not rehearsing or gigging much is totally in character.

My neighbor just helped me move the last of my shit from my auld compartment- the server rack (natch- not gonna give that up!), tape machine, dresser, bookshelf, some drum kit parts, miscellaneous shit and I'm effin' worn down- and I've only been up since 9 AM. Granted I didn't sleep much or eat. But still. Heavy lifting, not my forte. Leaving the dresser and bookshelf in the middle of the living room is probably bad times as well. I may ask to reschedule rehearsal; I don't know.

Moving shit takes it's toll on ya, especially you thin types... ;)

We've been seeing a drop off in tribute acts getting booked, we do ok during the summer, a few yearly bookings at Parks, Casinos etc... but we are seeing all the tribute bands having less bookings. Stupid dance, party shit is busy as all fuck though..... Almost feel bad taking money for playing such easy shit.. but hey someone's got to do it.

The fill-in bassist thing hasn't been working out due to said bassist's truck being broken down issues (if he can't make rehearsal, he can't do the show) so, naturally, I did the next best thing: I played the bass myself and put it on a track. Worked like a charm.

Also, of note, Chris rolled into rehearsal today rolling a 14-space full-depth (front and rear rails) rolling rack. This is now how we roll for live work. One bigass rack*, drum kit, guitars, bass, and soon: one keyboard. Done.

Said keyboard being a big CME controller he scored for $40(! :o ) off CL connected to a Roland Fantom rack unit, running in split mode to do what we needed a Prophet and a Kurzweil to do. Not, in the grand scheme of things, a bad rig. I have to say, seeing "Prophet" and "Kurzweil" up on a stage does add some panache vs. a controller board and a rack unit, but at the end of the day, efficiency is still queen of summertime. Er, king, king!

Bigass rack containing thusly: patchbay, audio inyourface, Roland synth, amp modelers, wireless units, power, and ideally two passive DI bockseses velcro'd to the bottom of the thing. Oh, and a big rack drawer containing both laptops (they are duplicates down to the model- one is a backup), backup PSUs and cables.

Whole band's rig minus the instruments themselves, one rack. Sheer elegance. :isay: :monocle:
