A bit grammatically awkward i thought (but what were the alternatives? "anyone's in society?", didn't like that much neither, though it is potentially mo currect) but even that is sort of to the point intended. ("anyone-in-society's?" i give up.)

A friend of mine was telling me aboot that sound city doc i think. Dave Grohl interviewing lots of folks who recoarded there, yeah? Or am i on about something else?

Yes, that would be the one. Lotsa stories, lotsa Dave Grohl. I got about an hour in so far. I've seem Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Rick Springfield and Ratt, the engineers, owners, the studio manager lady, Rupert Neve (and a big long bit on the console) along with bits and pieces of other people so far. I haven't gotten into the jamz or the companion record so far.

Just found this whilst looking through some files: The last picture taken of this previous beard when it was still fully intact. I sort of really miss looking like a total fucking bum. :red:

I've wanted to watch the Sound City thing, just haven't got around to it yet. Where are my priorities at?

And yes that is one scraggly looking beard Cam.

Oh jah, there is no trimming going on typically with my hobo face mess. It is quite a bit more effective at keeping people at a distance if it is uneven and bushy as possible.

Ah and, you would all probably be proud to know that is the top of a giant vacuum tube on my crewneck sweatshirt dayur.

So of course, now i am going to look into a much sketchier VW that is more local. :red:

Seems like it might be a nice build, but for some reason the dood replaced the rock solid old fuel injection system (which is über simple and i am comfortable working on) with carburetors, which for whatever reason, i totally do not trust.

Also, the car appears to be painted in a matte OD green finish, probably w/ rattlecans?

So, you know, perfect, for me.

It is like i am willfully thwarting anyone in society's ability to mistake me for an actual responsible, grown adult. :red:

Went to check this car out. :red: Shell is rough. Motor seems nice, but shell is rough. Car is LOW, like, it didn't totally clear two out of five speedbumps in the parking lot. The exhaust exits out the side.

As if in attempt to save myself from... myself, i ended up lowballing the dude for like a third of what he was asking for. It really does seem like a nice motor build and a good transmission with a limited slip differential(which none of these vws had from the factory, but which all of them should have) and i think it would be an awful lot of fun(once i raised it up a bit on the coilovers).

But really the only way i could feel good about myself the day after buying it, would be if i only spent what i would expect the transmission/motor to go for used on the market, like maybe $1k.

My guess is that with a car as low and ghetto as this, he might be able to find some idiot willing to pay more. But if he doesn't i would definitely go for it for that price. It would just mean that i would have to keep looking though, for a clean shell to put the motor/trans into. Maybe not until next year, but definitely soonish.

Well, the band is on indefinite hiatus. Which is a polite way, I suppose, of saying it's their studio act when the guys feel like getting around to it. I suppose I can live with that. Our upcoming show has been cancelled; The Snaxodrome is, I'm sad to say, no longer a functioning entity and we are vacating the premises.

Damn, that is a bummer, Snax-O. Dudes are just too busy to be a full-time band?

Feeling pretty stoked to get home and make another (hopefully far less failed) attempt at being something that resembles a put together human being. I need to start actually practicing guitar and not just writing stuff. Cause I feel like, if I ever actually get proficient at playing the thing, shit is going the fuck down. I've only got about a half billion songs/ideas stocked up, and I think a lot of them are damned good, so I am feeling pretty "LOOK THE FUCK OUT WORLD" about the whole deal. I just need to get myself into a position where I can effectively and competently bang these bastids out. I am in no way exaggerating that I probably have 3 full-length albums worth of material up my sleeve, it is just a matter of being able to play the stuff. :red:

More or less. It's become a bit of a money sink and they don't feel the traditional rock paradigm is getting very far in this one-horse burg. Can't say I blame them. We will of course continue to work on things and make noises and record, just in a more decentralized way. Of course, this leaves our drummer sans gig until he's necessary to bang on things. If I had a place to stash drums I'd just fire up my thing as a going concern, but lack o' fundage prevents that.

Re: becoming proficient playing one's own material- there's nothing wrong with that. Worked well enough for me. I learned how to play guitar (and bass, and to sing) just to perform my own stuff. Some noises just need to be made, and since most of us aren't blessed with slaves or session guys to bend to our every whim, you gotta do what you can with what you have. And re: practice non-advice, I never was able to stick to any sort of structured routine even if I tried. I would just play for the sake of playing, more or less anything that struck my fancy at any given point in time, just come home to my gear and eff around. And if that meant doing something stupid like micing my amp through the PA or spending hours dicking with effects, or deciding "I'm going to record everything today" (and spending however long dialing in sounds) or just jamming to a drum loop for hours, or god forbid actually learning something someone else wrote, it never mattered. Since it's always been a means to an end for me rather than an end in itself ("I want to play like [insert guitar hero here]!) for me, it worked out pretty well, I think, and I've developed a pretty broad skillset over the years basically just fucking around. :idk:

My friend, it definitely has worked out well for you. You got a pretty vast array of chops. Both in the playing and production fields. :huzzah:

My problem is: No fucking attention span, I think. When I pick up the geetar I usually just end up writing riffs or melodies or whatever. Then I am like, "I think I want to get high and listen to some music." :red: Never much chops building or practicing to a metronome, which would help me a great deal. I need to crack down on some shit fo sho.l

Ian and Kaleb are back at jamming again, and my lord it sounds brutal as fuck.. I hope they get it together enough to have atleast a couple short songs to record. Shit is a terrifyingly groovy sort of slam def metul. It is basically every conceivable badass chugriff style weaved together in such a concise, thought out manner. Shit flows like a muh fucka. Which is sort of ironic and bizarre to think about if you knew the dude behind the riffs. Way stoked to record that shit if things go as planned. :huzzah:

Sure fucking will. :D I am really excited, because the style is really conducive to interesting vocal patterns. Kaleb is fairly incapable of writing anything that is what I would call generic/typical and boring. Very few riffs in an actual 4/4 groove, they might equate to a multiple of 4 but there is odd time phrasing within them. It works out really well, because then when a straight 4/4 riff hits it is like groovecity out of nowhere. Most of his riffs could be characterized as chromatic and frantic "CHUGGERNAUTS" as we like to call them. The pacing and movement in the chromatism makes it sound like some giant fucking monster is barreling towards you.

If you can't tell, I am way into what this band does. :red: It has been a long time coming, so I hope they get their shit together.

Also, Ian has the best sounding snare I have heard in my life and I have been wanting to record it for a looong time. Some DW brass/maple shiz. Thing sounds godlike.

As an aside, because it just happened once again while I was walking from the little cabin thingy that holds laundry machine stuff real close to the housecabin thing I am staying in: I keep hallucinating dogs for some goddamn reason. Tuesday, I hallucinated three in one day. Yesterday I saw one, today I saw two. I see shit that is not there decently often, but usually it is weird, vague shit like faces on the backs of peoples' heads where my brain is clearly taking the lines cut by their hair and drawing fucked up conclusions of the information it is being provided. And it is usually my brain manipulating things that are already presently there, but the dogs are usually things that are simply not there at all. Though, one of the ones Tuesday was a black garbage bag that I mistook for a big, black Labrador.

It is kind of weird shit, man. :red: It does not really fuck with me much, it is just really bizarre.

This sounds relevant to my interests.

In other news there's a gig coming up, and they booked two of my bands. I knew this day would come. :poop:
