Excellent work. A friend of mine told me about a whole book of that sort of stuff a few years back. I don't remember the title though. I should track it down. (I'm sure he's probably at his favorite bar as we speak after work, so perhaps sometime I'll swing by and ask before band rehearsal.)

The ART, Cam? I was considering grabbing it, too. Two extra channels with the spidiff connection. Gnar gnar.
I've been jamming my drums as a four piece with a ten inch rack tom and a fourteen inch floor. Yesterday I played drums for the first time since I injured my foot... changed it to twelve rack tom, fourteen floor, sixteen other floor tom. All clear pinstripe heads. Brand new 2B sticks. Fuck, it was thunderous.

The ART, indeed. It is all nice and shiny and pretty looking versus my other stuff.
Fuck yeah dude, dem 2Bs.

I'm interested in what you think of it once you've fired it up. I like the Mullard that's in channel 1 for aggressive guitars and the Raytheon that's in channel 2 for bigger-than-life vocals. But that's just me. Have fun with the impedance controls, too. Especially as you have a nice collection of dynamic mice which should benefit from such things. Probably quite a bit.
And yes, a hearty "Fuck yeah dude" for 2Bs. I like 'em. A lot. The stick matters. (Much like the pick.)

I will be tracking new bass takes and second guitars for this band's demo here real soon so they will definitely get a proper testing. I think I might experiment with it tomorrow for the sake of not jumping in blind, as well. Definitely oughta get a feel for which mice like which impedance settings.

Not a bad idea. I have used it with a D112 a few times on kick and bass cab, but I don't recall what, if anything I did to tweak it. (I do remember slamming it pretty hard, and getting quite a bit of natural compression from driving the thing. It worked well on a metal kick drum.) The Heils could be interesting. The 57, well- it's really quite revealing how much you can open the thing up, and how narrow it sounds in comparison with the 1kΩ + impedances in yer usual inyourface pres.
Of note: the +20dB boost switch may be your friend with lower-output mice (57s, etc.). Even on louder sources, depending on what you're going for. It can get a bit noisy with a lot of gain. It does have, like, 40 year old tubes in it though.
Also of note: if you're connecting it via SPIDF, you'll have to go into yer inyourface's control software and set it to sync/clock to external source, and select SPIDF as said source. The A/D converters are actually pretty good. You'll also have to set the sample rate via the knob on the front panel to correspond with whatever rate you're inyourface is set to.
Yousa haveta getta rack for all this shizzle! (One of those rolling racks for PA gear + a large rack drawer as mic locker would make for a nice go-anywhere mobile setup; stick the 'puter on top.)

Man, a whole lot of rad things are going on in my life right now. It seems I might be getting a (possibly quite well) paid internship at this company: http://www.creativelive.com; I have a connection there and the dude who would be giving me the job seems to be taking a liking to me and it seems real likely now that the position will be mine. I am not entirely sure what the position entails yet (which is sort of silly) but it was required that I have extensive knowledge of music production and dooder who'd be hiring me works specifically with the music recording instruction d00ds who come through.
I will be going to this in a couple days, for example: http://www.creativelive.com/courses/rec ... drew-wade; Which is obviously super fucking cool. I will also be finding out whether or not I got the job the same day.
AND ADDITIONALLY, I interviewed at a suuuper local (I can get there in less than 5 minutes when I drive like the crazy person that I am) machine shop and the HR/Employment lady loves the fuck out of me and said like 4 times, "We'd be very happy to have someone like you working for us". Which is funny to me and I am not quite sure why, I assume they get a lot of morons/ill mannered fuckwits. I aced their little math test (if you can call it that) and she seemed stoked so there is a possibility I will have two jobs depending, as it is mostly graveyard shifts available.
AND FURTHER ADDITIONALLY, the band I am currently recording gave me an onstage shoutout and it got a lot of people interested in recording with me.
So yeah. Things are looking pretty fucking rad.

How goes the recording anyhoo? The new mic pre treating you nicely? That seems like a generally, to use the vernacular, fucking rad list o' things.
I just improvised a barbecue sauce at 3 AM. Oddly, I've never made one before. We had ingredients, I guesstimated the proportions, and it worked.

It is going well! Recording second guitars today with this band, Singled Out, and bass on Thursday. I think it's going to sound really cool, definitely has an old school production feel which suits the band's sound. They're excited and I'm excited about how it's turning out, so I'd say recording things are going pretty well.
The pre is indeed do it's job proper. I've only had a chance to run some angry guitars through the first channel and it seems to excel at that. It is a little noisy as you noted, but I don't think it will be anything detectable in a mix.

Sounds like the Mapz Collective™ is doing pretty well at the minute, congrats to all of us Speaking of which, I have my first date in a long old time on Thursday, I've never seen this girl sober so it's gonna be awkward if she's not as hot as I remember
Recorded those second guitars as well as the vocals and it sounds pretty sweet, IMO. I'm excited for the bass tracking on Thursday, I think it's going to go really well. I've quite a few ideas that I am stoked to try out.
I've got that Andrew Wade guitar recording class tomorrow, which is awesomely free. Dude has recorded and very closely produced A Day To Remember's last few albums and a bunch of other popular modern pop punk/metalcore whathaveyous. SHOULD BE FUN AND EDUCATIONAL.

Crazy lastminute trip style.
I am guessing that our man T will be off (prolly in my state) playing rockandroll. That is how these things tend to work.
Motherfuck, I was not in yer town. I was actually home. Although my late hours from gigging kept me in most of the day other than to go play some ball with my boy. Damn, I wish I had seen your post Sunday, I would have made time to meet for a coffee or beer.
Coffee would probably have been better, been hitting it a little too hard lately. ugh.
