Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
That is okay, because all inanimate objects are AT LEAST fucking cunts. And anyhow, it is wintertime, so the windows are all closed. So the neighbors (maybe, depending on how earnestly (err. loudly) you might be pleading/demanding that the objects behave) won't/shouldn't get too concerned. It is true with any inanimate object though, that if you don't swear at it, it will not work right. They tend to, in my experience, ONLY respond to unambiguously obscene threats.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Last Tuesday I got called into work because it was supposed to snow (it didn't or at least not until much later). Almost the exact same weather is kicking in today and I am thinking of calling out as payback.

Also to catch you guys up. I moved to Raleigh. I started playing banjo (Deering Deluxe), and now starting on old timey style. Started a punkgrass type band, Devin is gonna play bass if his wife doesn't murder him. New jawb.
Sold pretty much all my amps, kept a few guitars and pedals, that's about it.
Going to Mardi Gras and Merlefest.

I'm sort of over it now. The poop and vom aspect is long gone but I'm still wiped out.
ION: I have gas for a Hot Cat 30, or at least something with a class A cathode biased poweramp.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Got that Bareknuckle Piledriver (this really is a hilarious title) in the mail and picked up my ol' Thinline Tele from the shop after finally deciding to get that aftermarket WR humbucker swapped into there. It is a quite a different sound, lemme tell ya. After inspecting the stock pickup, it is not a WR humbucker at all. It is a regular 'bucker with a WR style cover with the unexposed slugs backwards, oddly enough.. So you can still adjust them from the back. Weird shit. The stock ones had a fairly ugly and cool thing going on, but at the moment I am definitely going to say I prefer the clarity of this new pickup. Chugs really nice, lots of clarity despite lots of gain for the tremolo strumming of dissonant chords I have been messing with lately. Wouldn't really say it twangs like a traditional Tele, but I am digging it and that's what the other one is for, anyhow.
Also, how rad is the middle position for cleans? The out of phase thing is totally my jam, bro.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
The valve wizard is local to me and he has a few OTs for sale. Full bandwidth at 50W and the set up I'm shooting for will hit a dirty 30 if I don't care about tube life 3k25 primary with 380 on the plates for some class A righteous tone. PT is a custom would toroidal job as I can source those very cheaply. Topology wise I've borrowed the clean channel and the funky out of phase dual PI inputs from the hot cat 30. The second channel is from a klipp. I'll need to build an ab-y box too It looks a bit like this at present https://db.tt/253eFf9E

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
man i LOVE the clean sound of those bad cats. super gorgeous. not so much the gain sounds-- but you've got that under control with the klipp!
that's gonna be cool-- i'm looking forward to hearing that! i don't think anything ever sounded like a laney klipp or a supergroup.. funky funky sounding amps.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I'm lucky enough I'll be using my buddies klipp for rehearsals at the minute. Amazing amp. I don't care for the klipp channel itself but the normal channel has an awesome crunch to it and it loves pedals. I've added an MV to it so I can take advantage of this without having to run full bore. I have enough spare in the PT to add stuff. I may experiment with an ef86 stage to totally rip off matchless I'm going to add a pentode/triode switch to the power amp too as it's easy enough. First though I need to finish up a rack preamp I've been building for a while. I have a good three weeks until the transformers arrive to get it done. Go team procrastination!

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Finally got round to making some progress to my new music room. Very much the same as the one in my old house but a bit bigger. I have plans to get rid of the corner desk to make a bit more space ready for an electric drum kit when I have the money for a decent one

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I bought some toys, knowing that i would be out of money real soon when tax times comes up. Got my MCA SP1s. I like them a lot. Really similar to the MXL990(should be, same capsule in a different body). Maybe a little more low end to them than the 990s. Should work very well for what i need. $50 a pop new is decent as hell. Wish i was hip back when they were $25. Finally got around to acquiring a pair of Sennheiser HD280Ps. Very interesting listening to random things right now trying to get used to where they are coming from. I think i like it. Does some of the things i love in the HD201s. You hear random shit that you don't normally know is there. Seems to be a bit of something going on with the midrange of them. After i listen to a pile of shit with them, i will go back and A/B/C them with the 201s and the other ones i have here, the Sony MDR-V6, and see what i think then. Got a pop filter. I don't even fucking want a pop filter. I don't need it. But after recording other singers enough times, and somehow no one seeming to be able to grasp the concept of "don't sing INTO the mic, sing NEXT TO it", i kind of give up. The pop filter is for them. I don't really like the general concept of folks spitting on/into my only LDC anyhow. Even if it is just an MXL2001. Lastly, got a Ditto Looper. I wanted a loopy thinger for a while now and this utterly simple one was only $100. It is fucking tiny. I haven't even tried it yet, at the moment being more interested in the HD280 listenings. After i bought it, i found the very similar and really, better, digitech mini looper, which i probably would have bought instead of this one, but for what i actually need, this is still perfect. If i end up liking it like, a lot, maybe the next one i buy will be the digitech.

I have been writing some pretty gawdamn strange vocal melodies these days. They're sick, but it's hard to sing them.
