We played a really good show tonight. It was fucking strange, people seem to really like us a lot. People that I wouldn't expect to, like some dude in a boring, generic metalcore band told us we're his favorite local band. It was bizarre.

The show also really made it clear how badly I need a new amp. Shit just ain't nearly loud enough. We would be able to get our batshit message across a lot better if my guitar could be shearing people's fucking eardrums in half.

I am beginning to wonder now, Chris, if you haven't just convinced me to get a 50 watt Marshall.

If you have a cab, for the meantime, i might be inclined to use the 5150 live. Clean channel + OD pedal, you could prolly make it make a decent enough loud noise as a stopgap. There were a few indie rock bands back in the day that ran 5150s clean-ish, and i never had a problem with the guitar sounds they made, honestly. It is kind of a misuse of all of the available distortion maybe, but, whatever, it can work.

The JCMs are classic though. Literally, my only problem ever with them, is that the heads are kind of big, designed to sit atop a 4x12 and take up all the space available up there.

But then, there are things like this out there too: Maplifier.

Another combo sure. But only a 1x12. Should be loud enough. Definitely cheap enough. Almost local to you, in a (very) relative sense.

I've never seen a Marshall with a faceplate like that or a green rocker switch- was that ever standard production, or is that aftermarket (perhaps to correspond with mods done to the amp)?

I dunno, looks like one of the input jacks was changed at some point as well. Price seems good, but it would have to be looked at/played through for sure. Foalks love to fuck with JCMs.

I have a budda super 80 at the shop for ~$1200 if memory serves. Those are stupid loud but IIRC they are MV. personally I'm with Chris on this, a JCM 800 would be about right. Not necessarily voxy but plenty bright and angry.

On an unrelated note, my Buick exploded and was replaced with a Ford Fiesta, and I got one of the new Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverbs for an even swap for my Twin. I got sick of lugging that sonofabitch around. Those new customs are phenomenal. I highly recommend them.

Called in about the JCM800 combo and talked with a dude who knows about the amp, it is a near completely refurbished model of the original circuit. The faceplate shit is all aftermarket schtuff. I am gonna buy it.

I'm actually thinking of getting one of these. It's between a Fiesta and a Kia Rio. They are top of their class in reviews if you remove the cars which I arbitrarily dislike.

So how is this automobile? Decently worthy as a a subcompact hatchback commuter?

I legitimately purchased Drumagog and it won't install. That'll teach me for following the rules. Someone stole my MP3 player as I was getting off the bus. I don't want to listen to my iPhone and it has become very difficult to purchase an MP3 player which isn't an iPod or some piece of shit with only 4 gigs.

My job is working out well though... They're taking me on once my contract expires. I'm like, an adult now.

Its awesome. We rented one to go to a cabin we rented in the Blue Ridge mountains once. I drove the bitch up a super steep incline gravel road no problem. It's good on gas and super super fun to drive. Mine is a 2012 btw.
