Is it required to have gauged ears to join the rhythm section?

They are actually tiny little speakers.

Also, I bought another goddamn Les Paul.

This time a '98 Studio, and for $450.

So I happened into some sort of Hammond yesterday (My guitar teacher said it's an M2, but looking it up that doesn't seem to match up. It's so damn confusing trying to figure out which model has what specs.

In any case, though, it sounds awesome and is giving my inner mad scientist several ideas. I just have to figure out the best way to mic it up.

Badass. I've wanted a real Hammond for a while. What kind of speaker configuration? Do you have a Leslie cabinet to go with it?

No separate Leslie cab, but there's at least one Leslie speaker built in? (Got to be some good reason the damn thing weighs 300-something pounds.) There's a port for an external Leslie (With a warning not to run more than 5 off of it. ) I THINK it may be one of the transistor, non-tone wheel models.

Lower ensemble with the arpeggiator in up/down mode and on zither setting is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Instant video game mode.

Sounds like whatever the one one of my friends had was. Thing made some crazy-ass oddsounds of a distinctly not classic-hammond flavor. :huzzah:

Innerestin'. A friend of mine had an organ back in the day that had a rotating speaker built-in. His was a Wurlitzer, though, IIRC. It did sound cool, and it was a bitch and a half to move. Do you have any pictures of the thing?

Of course, you have to use the Atarisounds on something ASAP. :nods:

Hammond Commodore. 80's. I don't know how I didn't notice the 50th anniversary badge on it before. Here's a shitty cell phone pic.

That's about how long the wife and I were together before we moved in to our first place.

Just got back from Reading Festival, absolutely insane weekend. QOTSA on Friday brought the rock. ETID were disappointingly shit, at least mix wise. Couldn't make anything out and it just sounded like a mess. Mandy 3 nights in a row was too much though, we all feel dead today haha

EITD rehearse in the same building as Garda when they're in town, and I see them occasionally in the elevator or around the building. I can tell them, if you'd like, that Tom from England says they were dissapointingly shit at Reading. :red:

I lost my damn keys today, dammit. I think I left them in the damn fifth floor bathroom at the damn studio. I hope I didn't leave them on the damn bus, because that would suck. :wall:

Garda has a DBX 386 mic pre on the way, and our own SM7 in the near future. For our vocal/iso boof. :nods:

Good news! There's a headphone out, so I may just use it as a line-out. I won't get the Leslie effect that way, but 8-bit space arpeggios will be happening.

They may have been playing well for all I know, but the sound was so messy that combined with the manic nature of their music, I couldn't hear what the hell was going on. Mind you, being as smashed as I was probably didnt help :red: Best weekend I've had in years, I'm on the biggest comedown ever now and watching the highlights on iPlayer is so depressing.

I'm not surprised Big Festival Sound is ass. Most large shows sound absurd anyhow, and it's really disappointing. I've come to appreciate seeing bands in clubs or smaller venues where what's coming off the stage actually matters in terms of what the audience hears. For whatever reason, anything that relies entirely on the mains to be heard always seems to sound like the stereotypical bad car stereo blasting mainstream commercial hiphop- way too much murky bass, and shitty distorted top end that sounds like a DS-1. Considering I've heard Peter Murphy and Sisters Of Mercy turned into this sort of mess, I can only imagine a proper noisy metal band. :hypno:

So many fucking history books on order from Amazon. :dukes: I'm okay with this, though. This is the sort of thing I do for fun anyhow. Also, I get to torment students this semester and make them Learn. :dick:

All the stages/tents apart from the metal one actually sounded really good, way better than I was expecting.
