I am incredibly fond of it myself. :0 They are basically unknown in our area too even though they are local. I'm gonna try to book shows with them when I return.

Rory is a boss.
I always liked this one:
(partly because of the opening guitar sound, partly because of the drummin', and partly because of the boss solos wif the pinch harmonics and interesting note choices later in the thing)

Is it just me, or does something abut the new Shellac feel a bit less like Shellac and a bit more like Future Of The Left?
I don't know exactly what it is about it, because it does indeed have quite a bit of very Shellac-yness to its sound.
And indeed, if FOTL has anything, it is certainly, a bit of Albini-fronted-band influences. But i felt that they went somewhere else with the sound. And now i feel a bit like Albini himself has decided to visit that particular place as well?
Have to hear the rest of the rekkid i think.

Okay, I can hear where you're coming from here. I hear it primarily in the lyrics/vocals/delivery. Granted Albini et al are pretty prominent influences within FotL, but I'm definitely hearing it as well. I'm also hearing Steve's Billy Gibbons influence in the guitaring a bit.
Not that it's necessarily bad- I'm still digging the material. Though I'm still unlikely to see Shellac for twelve dollars in a shitty punk rawk dive bar in Buffalo like I did Future Of The Left. Which is unfortunate.
Of course I need to hear the rest of it- but I was planning on that anyhow.

Whores. Probably the best current band I've heard. Music like it used to be, when men were men, fuzz was fuzz and riffs were Riffs.
