Jamming with a singer and drummer on Friday and they actually sound pretty decent from what I can tell on fairly low quality youtube clips. I am excite. Will make sure to record the whole thing to get the verdict from the mapz brethren.

Teaching a college class about the current state of sub-Saharan African geopolitics and the legacy of European colonialism, in under an hour, without lecture notes- only an image-laden (it's me, after all) PowerPoint- crosses the line between ballsy and stupid. But I managed, dammit. In my defense, if I actually used my prepared notes, I'd be running well beyond two classes.

Also: I am occasionally teaching history at a military high school this semester. Take that for what it's worth.

And my 95-year-old grandmother is in the hospital in Ohio with circulation issues, and there's a good chance I'll never see her again- she is 95, after all- and while it's not something I've not anticipated, still...

Techtalk: Finally installing a Duncan Custom in my fave-o-rite Strat this evening. Why I don't own a goddamn Dremel, I don't know, as this pickguard is cut a wee bit too small and it takes forever with an X-Acto. Notetoself. Haven't touched either of my new preamps yet, toodamnbusy.

This SSD thing is kinda awesome, and I haven't even got my main sample libraries on there yet. OS X loads faster than the BIOS check; Logic loads in seconds, not minutes.

Wow that's A lot going on there. Sorry to hear about your grandmother. Even with the advanced age you're never ready. As for the bassman that seems like a good price although I see them go sometimes for less sometimes for more. But for that year seems reasonable. Also seems like a good price for that Burny

First time recording in this new house. Basement is real tiny with a lot of concrete. Going to have to treat that and whatnot. However, I would say the production works for a fastcore-ish demo type thing.

My friend has lent me his digitech whammy pedal and line 6 spider 2 amp. With the whammy and tremelo/delay on the amp, I'm creating some fantastically horrible sounds. I'm sure my neighbours must think I'm directing some kind of robot snuff video in my music room.

Also on Snaxies question on the bassman, there's a gent local selling a '66 bassman head and cab together for 975. I think the bassman heads are seriously undervalued. I want one.

I am definitely pleased with the way it came out moreso than most things I have recorded. Could have sounded even cooler with a better guitar/newstrings but I am happy with it, especially in the context of how it fits the sound of the band.

About to be doing a whole lot more recording, I intend to really get my amp recording chops honed.

And also, that now that the snake won, you can only drive that car to where the snake wants to go, which is basically only the pet store so that it can ogle the rats.

A snake of that size might be searching for larger prey. This could prove interesting.

Can't see why he wouldn't. Merlin is a good dude. I emailed him yesterday about them and he's going to produce some generic layouts in the next week or two. I started on a nitro layout in work yesterday. They're pretty awesome to design on and they'll make my 3 channel rack pre much easier to build

I saw/heard that yesterday. I passed it on to the relevant authorities. It is quality stuff.

That trucker hat and the hardcore posturing goes against what I consider to be the At the Gates aesthetic though. Meh whatever, it's not my band.

It's the music that counts. They can wear all the trucker hats they want. Musically, shit holds up. Also, I can hear what the bass is doing, and I don't mind that at all.

Oh yeah, of course. I know I'm going to be into this album.
