Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
That is indeed a possibility I had considered.. Does it make much of a difference if they are cascaded versus parallel? I figured it might and that cascading might get quite messy, but I suppose that might not be a bad thing.
I feel like one on an infinite-ish loop, probably at the backend of the chain paired with a short slapback would probably achieve what I am looking to do.

I wish more delays had tone knobs.

Nah, if you want brighter, a tone knob won't do it. Generally, the type of tone knob that might wind up in a delay will only be capable of reducing high end. The darkness of a delay is often/usually to disguise clock noise or some sort of unpleasantness that would become clear at high delay times if the circuit was not designed to filter/cut the high frequencies out of the equation. What you may want is some sort of rackmount digi shit. Sounds like you might want a very clean signal repeater/looper, almost more than a delay.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
That is kind of what I have been surmised, which is lame because it complicates things. In all of the scattered, scarce info I have found on AC's gear, it is mostly 80's rack delay units from Ibanez or MXR (sometimes in conjunction with pedals). I was just hoping to maybe get around it.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I think that the trick you are hearing/running into, if you aren't liking the sound of the pedals, might be internal memory and input voltage sorts of things. As i see it, a sharper cleaner repeat is going to come from a bigger more computer-like delay circuit. It will almost be more like a looper/sampler than a delay pedal. You will probably wind up with a rig that looks like The Edge's. For simplicity and frugality, if you like what you are hearing from the behringer, why not buy a couple and play around with them? As to the question of whether they would go in series or parallel, both have their special noises. If parallel, then you might want to run two amps to take full advantage of pingponging madness... BUT, bear in mind that without a way to sync the pedals together, pretty much every parallel setup is going to have an element of utter chaos strapped to it. Alternately, run in series, the first delay kind of sets a tempo/beat that the following one(s) will repeat, so at least theoretically, there is a little more of a rhythmically-tied-together quality to the end result. This shit is about experimentation though. Fuck around and make something weird happen, IMO.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Have you messed with an Eventide Timefactor? About as close to a rack style delay you will got on your board, at least that is easy to find. Other than that I am sure there is a builder who makes a digi delay of utter ugliness. Or a Strymon Timeline. NO. Pigtonix Echolution I: I imagine the hi cut is just a hp filter though, it probably won't boost the highs. Maybe loop it through an EQ pedal?

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
The more I think about it, an FX Loop with a digi delay, maybe a plate reverb and an eq pedal would probably be your best bet.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
This actually, is one of the things I am definitely looking for. However, I would be using very short/quick delays times with little to no self oscillation (in this particular circumstance), so the mess would be mildly contained. Kinda like the tone on Turn Into Something off Feels. I call this tone "tiny rolling boulders". I am thinking I will indeed just get atleast one of those little behries and maybe something else, just to switch it up. I kind of like the Nick Reinhart approach of acquiring cheap, shitty gear that sounds fucked up because, well, it was not made incredibly well and has maybe begun to malfunction from abuse or was inherently fucked to begin with

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I actually have never played through one of them or the other highend crazyprocessingpowerinalittlebox digital pedals. Re; Pigtronix Delay of Death, that is a whole lot of pedal! Probably too much for me at the moment now that I am thinking about it, but down the line when I actually know how to chain some delays..

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
On the more expensive side, there's always this modern (slightly tweaked) pedal version of an '80s rack delay: Though it may be cheaper to get the old rack unit on Ebay.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I messed with one of those when it came in the shop. Unimpressed.
Edit: But thinking about it, it might actually work for Cam. At least worth a play through.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Hot damn. That is indeed quite expensive, but would probably do the trick nicely.. Welp, I only just now figured out that the tone from Fireworks is a trem into a delay. Good thing I impulse bought a Supa Trem when I was super high and still had throw away money.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Got a new practice amp... Peavey Vypyr. Thing has a lot of sounds in it, some really good heavy tones and a decent Marshall as well. And those sounds are way better than fucking Line 6 Spider. And tonnes of options and effects and shit. It even has a looper. I'm pretty chuffed, but it still does seem 'digital'. I think I've figured out what a big part of an amp seeming digital is:
Latency. Digital amps just feel fucked with. An analog amp responds at the very instant your touch the strings. The one or two milliseconds of delay in a digital amp aren't audible, but you do feel that there is something in the way.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
absolutely agree with ya. i feel the same way about big pedalboards for the same reason! it ain't a LOT of latency.. but it still makes me nuts. i kinda feel the same way about too many gain stages too-- when I start playing amps with north of 2 or more, I start feeling like it's sluggish. how much latency could a damn gain stage induce, right? i dunno why-- but i like to stay with as little 'stuff' in the way as i can get away with. i think the time domain is like the missing x factor for amps.. analog or digital- but i know some people are totally immune to that. lag time makes me nuts!

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Tough Mudder really wasn't too bad, somehow I managed to run the whole thing despite having done probably around 5 short runs total for my training Considering doing another similar thing in November but it'll be bloody freezing. edit - put a Bareknuckle Black Dog in my SG. It sounds pretty good, similar to the mule but a bit more aggressive. I prefer it. Might get the neck one to go with it as the neck Mule is a bit "polite" in comparison. I quite like the mismatched covers as well.

Band started tracking our EP yesterday. My boy Alex killed the drums. Entire session with setup and levels took four hours for four tracks.

That's pretty quick if the work's quality. Who's recording ye? My bassist just got one of these: I think it'll get a fair bit of use. We can get more out of it than just Daft Punk-in-a-box. Chained it together with my Moog Ring Mod. Good times were had by all.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Local spot called Last Chance Studios. And yeah, the tracks came out great. The engineer is a drum savant, tuned my drummers tom and kick to a sweet sound in like 5 seconds after my drummer was struggling to get it right (and my drummer techs drums everyday, so he isn't shabby at it.) Holy fuck that kick drum sounded amazing. My drummer ended up using the studio's kit almost entirely, except for his giant maple snare. If I can get my hands on the raw tracks I'll post them here, you guys would love the sound the engineer got out of that kick.
