Re: Chris, Knope - you have mail
I have no idea, but it was really early in the search results too, like the top of the second page.

Re: Chris, Knope - you have mail
Graphically it is swell, but should, IMO, have its text excised.

Re: Chris, Knope - you have mail
DEVIN! Got a mysterious box in the mail today. You.... wouldn't know anything about that, would you? I haven't fired it up yet, but it looks like trouble/fun. Also, i haven't been able to get those mics to make any bad noises. The little 991 seems to have a weird frequency response, either due to its shape, or maybe to the little hole in the diaphragm. It is noticeably different in how it sounds though. Almost like a cocked wah sort of sound, compared to any of the other mics i have here... Being sidetracked with the mechanical beast project, my hands have been a little too cut up to play guitar or drums much, so i still haven't gotten a chance to do louder source tests with the three, but in the pile of quieter tests i have done, nothing else seems wrong with them. I will do some loud guitars and drums tomorrow probably. If nothing pops up, i can mail all three and the fixed muff back to you, probably early next week or so. Anyhow thanks very much for the electrotoy. I will get to running some experiments on it ASAP!

Re: Chris, Knope - you have mail
This thing is fucking cool! Pretty heavily digital. Don't know what is possible for hacking it in the physical/analog realm. I am trying to resist the urge to take it apart for as long as possible. BUT. It does a lot of cool shit, functions kind of as a 12-14 slot 8bit sampler, has freakydeaky kaoss-esque fuckery abilities with the crazy glowball, and does some very cool glitch/shortloop stuff. I say 'kind of' functions as a sampler, because you can only technically record to one or two slots. Buuuuut. I think i figured out how the files it uses work (the software editor(manager, really) bit is kind of neat) and i am going to try to fool it into uploading things i recorded instead of the standard samples. I am also going to look around and see if anyone has hacked into this thing yet. It seems kind of ridiculously capable of madness. It is a bit noisy when used with a guitar, but that might be because i don't have any 1/8 shielded geetar cables to go from geetar to device or from device to map. I will have to see if i have any 1/8" plug around that i can make some cables with The blue glowball expression thing would be very cool to have as a foot controller. It is a bit lightweight to use as that as is. I also think that it controls at least three parameters, i.e. more like a joystick than a typical expression pedal. Maybe split it into three or whatever expression pedals? I DON'T KNOW. Thing is fucking rad though. Thanks Devin! I love unexpected toys to experiment on!
