Here is the first quickie test i did with the U-Create.Really just playing with a couple of the effects, and a couple of the funky beats. I need to either build a 6v power supply for it, or buy a shitload of batteries. It seems like maybe the buttons get less responsive as the batteries lose some charge.
It is totally a funky beatbox, and this is just one of the five soundsets that you can upload using their website.
There are totally a few things that can be done with it, but most would be just replacing bits with more robust bits, like lighted buttons for all the samples, or some better switches, and proper 1/4" jacks.
The main thing i want to do though, is figure out how to upload my own samples. It seems basically possible, but i will have to do all kinds of stuff for it to work right. Basically it needs one five second clip, with about 12-14 layers to it. Or like they do it: three five second beats and nine layers of sounds that are all same tempo, plus two "aw yeah" or "lemme break it right down" sorts of voice clips.
Then each layer can be exported separately as a really basic headerless raw audio format, renamed, and (hopefully) uploaded into the device as if it was a stock sample set. That is the theory anyhow.
Thing is fucking awesome though. Amazing what they can cram into a "toy" these days. This thing is basically a sampler and groovebox. And the 8bit sound quality is endearingly oldschoolawesome.
Later on, i will do some better clippage with more thought behind it. This one was literally: first recording, just let the machine run, and fiddle around with things aimlessly.
